Even at LSU I would bet Les preaches to his player about character, Les comes from Bo coaching tree.

The issues is not the SEC schools, they are all good schools. The issue is SEC mentality about their football players SEC schools have and their fans. If you have 20 players on a team who graduate how many go pro on average? 4-5 on a good year, how many stay in the NFL past 3 years after they get drafted?

So the issue is to me is the SEC is not focused on the academics part for these kids. They are just $$ to them.

    Big 10 average graduation rate = 71%

SEC average graduation rate = 66%

Don't act like the Big 10 is that far ahead of the SEC.

As Germ said before, they have more expected of them to actually graduate.

Proof? Don't act like Big 10 athletes do not get coddled with tutors and easy classes.

I don't have squat for proof. But I think both you and me know the truth.

I think you are greatly over estimating how much the Big 10 and it's fans care about academics. Seriously. It's beyond absurd.

I'm not getting that impression from the other big ten fans on here. They can correct me if so.

Oh...ok, well that settles the debate. 4 Big 10 fans on the internet claim they care more about academics than winning. Yep, debate over.

I guarantee you if you ask 100 LSU or Alabama fans if they care about player academics, 90 of them will say "yes of course" as well.

It's a nice thing to say or think, but in reality, you don't care. Just admit it.

As you said before, you're a bigger NFL fan and alot of guys are. For the most part this board is dominated by big 10 guys, a few are rabid, but most know their place when talking college football. That is the reason academics is even brought up, to take the place of championships, wins/losses etc...something you can compete against.

It's like the deer hunting contest, not many want any of "us" on their team because it's just a different arena and the oods decrease.

I think it's more regional than anything. I take off my Bama hat and put on my Falcons hat...the craziness doesnt leave, it's just readjusted for Sunday's. I know ALOT of guys like this, even Hooker and those PUKE saints he pulls for.

BTW all of you know I am not an SEC *****, I hate the Barn, and supposed to hate Tennessee more than anyone, but I have a lot of love for Phillip and like talking good football with him. I don't really dislike Tennessee, and that is blasphemy from a gump.

BTW can we get back to the original point of this thread, hating om BAMA and our poor academics and all those bought and paid for rings!!!!! All 41 championships we celebrate, even though only 14 are recognized, etc...Sadly I miss those days, now any mention of BAMA brings about SEC rage.

Hook, Eddie lacy came to Bama for other reasons...Them dolla bills!!! It had nothing to do with the fact he could barely speak, LSU is not the place to reject anyone who lacks reading and writing comprehension...Choot, lizzzbeth, choot!!! Honey Badger, Jamarcus "purple drank" Russell, Les Miles and his freaking inability to properly clap..

Oh yeah, the Big 10 or 12 or whatever it is, legends and leaders...sucks

And lastly, since everyone left when the little Gump arrived, I cannot wait for you die hard Packers to sport Mr. Lacy's jersey here shortly. At that point, I guess he is OK once he is out of the SEC and into your hearts in Green Bay

I will admit to the fact that the general casual Wisconsin fan is more worried about how good the pre and post game party is rather than win or lose.

It's funny, as I sit here watching this Michigan/OSU rivalry documentary on HBO, not one of these people are mentioning academics...
