It's laughable to me the elitist attitude the Big Ten has taken on now that they suck. 10 years ago their fans could not care less about academics but now that their best team is middle of the pack to their brothers down south, it all of the sudden matters? Football programs are cash cows for universities. Southern universities offer great academic programs to those who want to pursue one, as well as easy bull**** ones. No different than up north. I wish people would quit acting like college should be so hard and studious. 50% of the degrees offered as a 4 year program are no more difficult to pass through than high school. Boosters give away money in every conference, no matter where they are geographically. Some schools turn a blind eye and cover it up (see UNC, the NCAAs gold standard who has been uncovered as the biggest cheater of all time with still no consequences) and others do their best to prevent it knowing full well these rock star athletes will never be treated as joe blow the future kindergarten teacher.
I would bet a LOT of money that the average IQ of Big 10 athletes is SEVERAL points higher than that of the average SEC athlete.
I read often about a kid we would like to recruit but we can't because there is little chance of getting him admitted to Madison. It happens at Michigan as well. Does that happen in the SEC? I don't know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes. Eddie Lacey would have been at LSU but he could not qualify academically. I have no idea how he magically qualified for Alabama...
15.5.6.1 Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] There shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of initial counters (per Bylaw 15.02.3.1) and an annual limit of 85 on the total number of counters (including initial counters) in football at each institution. (Revised: 1/10/91 effective 8/1/92, 12/15/06) Good of the SEC to follow that particular NCAA rule.
There's talk every recruiting season of Tenn not going after recruits because of academic concerns. Crap forgot my gif...
You know exactly what point I am making with that. Big 10 has student-athletes. SEC has athlete-thugs. Look up graduation rates percentages in comparison. LSU 77, FL 76, AL 69, GA 65, Auburn 63.... Northwestern 97, Penn 91, Iowa 82, Ill 75...... Admission into Big 10 is definitely harder. Admitting that fact as an SEC fan, nearly impossible.
As a Harvard fan: I find it incredibly insulting for someone to celebrate such academic mediocrity for a school such as Wisconsin. I am completely ok with our team being horrible as I know our players receive a top notch education. I feel sorry for those Wisconsin players. See how annoying that is?
Hey don't forget Wisconsin's 88% graduation rate and tied for third in the nation. General population graduation rate at Wisconsin is only 75%.
Annoying but also TRUE! I would admit it to the Harvard fan. So why don't you just admit it and we can all move on and get back to work?

Not to throw the stereotype for SEC fans out the window, but I think most student-athletes are an embarrassment. For example Cordarrelle Patterson for UT last season could barely speak English.
That was overall student athletes rank. Whooops. Badger Student-Athletes Rank Third in the Nation in NCAA Graduation Rates - UWBADGERS.COM - The Official Athletic Site of the Wisconsin Badgers
Question for the Big 10 guys: Would you rather deny the kid an opportunity to better himself by not allowing him into your University, or would you rather grant the kid the opportunity to better his education and perhaps make him a better person by granting him access to your university? Big 10 fans seem pretty cruel.
