I think the over signing rule is a conference by conference thing. I don't see a problem with it. You see a lot of guys transferring these days, so the coach is doing so as a method of protection against having a short roster.
A kid is promised a full ride when he commits and then they yank it out from him? Kinda puts the kid in a tough spot don't you think? School isn't excatly cheap to pay for these days.
Most of the athletic funding comes from boosters, and believe it or not, Arkansas has some seriously wealthy boosters. To the casual fan, of course winning football games is more important than the academics. I'm 100% certain it is the same way for Wisconsin fans. Don't even try to lie and say it's not. For someone that has never stepped foot in a Wisconsin classroom, they do not care about the academics. The academic thing is something the Big 10 fans always bring up to make themselves feel better.
All scholarships are offered with conditions. If the kid does not meet those conditions, I see no problem pulling the scholarship.
You are trying to put causal fans from Wisconsin (who love the nfl way more than college football) in the same category as sec fans? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm guessing there is a good chance the kid will find another place willing to offer him a scholarship. Plus, a scholarship is a year to year thing, so it isn't like they ruined four years of their life.
Are the kids not meeting the conditions or did the school just have too many kid that did meet the conditions and they needed an out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No. There is no question that SEC fans care more about college football than any other fanbase, but that still doesn't mean that they care any less about academics than the casual Big 10 fan.
Maybe and maybe not. Most of the kids that get bumped are probably mid level talent otherwise they would not be getting bumped. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also it isn't important what the causal fans do. It is what the decision makers think at the university. Ya know, the ones handing over cash to players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why would a person that did not graduate from Wisconsin care about Wisconsin academics? And here is a good example of the power of wealthy boosters, which pay for the vast majority of athletic facilities. Oregon's new athletic facilities:
Well BB is smarter than ya'll thought. Why do you think Franklin is staying at Vandy? Best conference with more money divided between ALL schools and athletic and academic programs
you think Saban or any other high level person is handing any cash to players? No. It's the private boosters. Now Saban might have knowledge of it and allow it to happen, but there is no way Saban is personally handing over any type of money.
Because if is nice to cheer for kids that get graduate with real degrees at a top notch school and have a life waiting for them after football. Not a bunch of kids taking nothing classes who should not of been in college in the first place but got in because they are a good athlete. These things matter to me at least. I have no problem with what the sec does. I dont care enough to let it bother me. I just want them to admit it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
College Rankings According to this list, 11 Big 10 school are in the top 100. 7 SEC schools are in the top 100. With the SEC having the highest ranked school between the 2 conferences... And let's not pretend like all Big 10 athletes would be in college even if they weren't on athletic scholarship.
