No they don't care unless tOSU does itor Michigan practice 15 min over. Saban had to blow a gasket when he seen that picture
Hell the Badgers got all kinds of scholarship restrictions for discounted shoes in the early 2000’s after winning back to back rose bowls. LOL
Bama players at Bama who play in the SEC, I have to trash the SEC in this somewhere. How can I do so and make you happy?
My take is the SEC teams will do whatever they can get away with to win. Including over signing, putting more money into athletic facilities instead of academic and research, low academic standards, etc. Has football success become more important than the actual school? The fans are fine with it. The culture is football first and it is an obsession. Combined with the emphasis of football in high school and it is no wonder the SEC is who they are. Now, tell me I'm wrong.
I read this kid was an Auburn commit who recently flipped to Bama. Don't know if it is true or not as I did not look into it.
Oh and before I get the every program does it. I do believe there is some level of cheating in probably every program. But I think it is in a class by itself in the SEC.
So Wisconsin spends more money on academic research than their football operation? Is this what you are telling me? And over signing is no longer allowed. And I could argue that more football success generates more revenue, which in turn, helps the school with not only athletic facilities, but also academic facilities.
I don't know how the numbers break down. But I do know that Wisconsin makes a higher priority into academic facilities than athletic facilities. For example, it is like pulling teeth to get our locker room and weight room upgraded. But yes, you should see all the new and modern research, engineering and student housing projects going up on campus. When BB left for the Hogs one of the things Hog fans brought up is their superior facilities; which they are. Then I did a little research and it made sense as to why. The money they are dumping into the athletics is staggering. I fully understand the position of the payback of from a quality football program. I get that it is important. Having said that, from what I see from up north, the SEC schools should consider thinking about having a better school and less about winning football games. But just admit it is more important in the culture to win games and I am OK with that. It is a different culture.
Oversigning may be OK per the rules but is it the right thing to do? Is it still legal? I don't even know. If they stopped it, then the only reason the SEC teams stopped doing it is because they were forced to.
