Living here in Chicago I have heard that the 1985 Bears had the best Superbowl Defense ever. The locals here constantly hop in their time machine and go back to that day where the Super Bowl Shuffle reigned supreme. After last night I think it is obvious that the Seattle Defense is now the best to play in the big game. What would you all say to that, a bunch of misfits and late round draft picks stopping the greatest single season offense of all time.

Ravens in the early 2000's, Bears in the 80's and this Seattle team were all very very good. Hard to say which one is the best.

Its truly a toss up when it comes to greatest of all time.

The 85 Bears, 00 Ravens and 13 Seahawks all have a claim to it.

Seattle DID destroy the greatest offense of all time though. And thats something.

All very comparable IMO. I would add the "steel curtain" defenses in the 70's. They were a badass defensive bunch.

Lol PT.. youre having a tough time that Peyton and company got crushed! I wanted them to win (or at least see a good game). I conceded it was going to be a drubbing in the second quarter. The Broncos offense played terrible because the Seahawks defense made them. There really was no chance last night the way that defense played. I'm not even sure if Seattle missed a single tackle.

But so did Denver's defense and special teams.

No facet of Denver's game was even remotely good last night.

Denver looked like a boxer that wasn't properly warmed up mentally and physically before a fight. The head coach needs to be held accountable on that level.

Seattle produced the best Superbowl defense I have seen in my lifetime.

    Agreed

As you would think they should with what little offense Denver put out.... It would be like the worst team in the NFL playing the best highschool team.... The NFL team's defense would look pretty good as well...

I guess for me, the offense was the cause of their defense looking unbelievable, and not the defense shutting down an
Offense that was playing at their normal level

Seattle was on it for sure. It was like they tasted blood on that safety... Game over at that point.

    Great pic Simon!

The only reason the Bronco's looked so bad was because the Seahawks put it to them. I'm sure Denver felt prepared, but the defense kept throwing haymakers. They hit hard, and tackled the Broncos. Their defense was amazing, and I honestly don't know that there would have been any team(ever) that would have beat them. It was by far the most outstanding defensive performance I've ever seen. One that was against the best offense of all time(statistically speaking), against one of the best QB's of all times with one of the best receiving cores in the league. Playing in a league where all the rules favor the offense. Without a doubt, the best defensive game I've seen in the superbowl.

I watched a special on them last night. That defense didn't give up a single TD (Kick returns don't count) in the Super Bowl. Forced 5 turnovers. Pretty amazing. Pre - Ed Reed too.

Agreed. It was pretty special to watch. Their front 7 was amazing.

Richard Dent, the Super Bowl XX MVP, was a twelfth round draft pick. Just sayin'.
