was curious when everyones archery seasons start and what states you can get an archery tag (any sex or antlerless) over the counter. I am thinking of an early season hunt somewhat close to home (iowa) before our seasons starts.
May not be until next year, but wanted some info.
    Thanks for any help.

Oct 1st here in Illinois. I also get tags for WI. because the season starts Sept. 18th there. You can get your tags online or over the counter.

You can come to Alberta. I can get a general elk tag for archery good from sept 8-oct 30 (gun season starts sept 17 though). A mike deer tag good from sept 8- oct 30 and a whitetail good from sept8 to nov 30. All these are over the counter without draws. Only issue is I can get only one either sex whitetail and one either sex mule deer tag a year. But I can get two more doe tags. Also some areas have moose tags without needing a draw.

Wisconsin opener Sept 18. In my unit (13) it is buck only this year with NO doe option. Adjacent northern Units- doe tags are first come first serve going on sale next weekend..

I am not happy with this structure....

    Is it October (1st) yet?

I'm also from IL. I usually pick up an either sex and an antlerless tag online or over the counter. I'm so looking forward to Fall.

Yeah check out Wisconsin for the Sept 18th opener. Most of the south west has plenty of doe tags out there. Good luck.

    JayB,

Over the counter for non-resident aliens? Are you sure? There's more to it than that, eh?

Our archery season (Aug. 28th-Sept.26th) is over before most everyone else's opens. There are exceptions.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Wisconsin and Kentucky were two on my list.

I may have a connection in Kentucky but what about public land? I know Kentucky has some how about Wisconsin?

I'm not 100% sure on that one. I should look into it. I know a friend of ours moved out of province and was going to come hunting with us. From what we knew, all we had to do was fill out the hunter host paperwork and have one of us host him and he could get his tag. I could be wrong on that though. I'm buying my tags once I'm back from a holiday and I will look into it incase someone is interested.

Yep, if you're not a resident you MUST be "hosted" or have a guide. Will, I understand you'll be in the Bow Zone the last week of Nov. I'll be there the same week as well. I can't wait!

Your location says Georgia, if that is where you hunt then the dates/quantities are as follows...If you are somewhere else, forget anything I say because I know nothing:o

September 11th........ 10 does 2 bucks, one of which can be any size and 1 has to has 4 pts on one side...
