Good luck to all you trad guys this season. Doe season opens here in 2 weeks. I am hoping to have a doe down by the end of September. I have switched over to shooting broadheads/field points at a 50/50. Getting close!

    Question for you guys.

Do you all bring in an extra string to the woods with a bow stringer just in case of an emergency? For some reason I feel like my string is more vulnerable on my recurve as compared to the old compound. Am I just stressing for no reason?

Waiting for Oct. 2 to get here. I think it's a good idea to carry an extra string that's already set up...along with an extra tab. I also take another bow or 2 along to camp with me

Where at Brett? Private land or in Price William?

I was under the impression I couldn't hunt until 02 Oct.

    I want a doe!

PW, Fairfax, and Loudoun all have early doe archery season beginning on September 4th. I have like .25 acres down by the creek behind my house where I might get a shot at something, LOL. My buddy also lives on 80 acres in Loudoun and I am hoping he is interested in doe hunting. I might only hunt 3-4 times in the month of September. So if you have somewhere to hunt in the above three counties then you have a shot at a doe!

Yes It Is getting close Brett, 7 days for me till the Minnesota bear season opens. As for an extra string I don't take one with when hunting around home but I do take one with when hunting away from home. One time so far In the 15 years I've hunted with my recurve I've had one string blow on me. That happened to me while I was 19 hours away from home In Montana by myself on an elk hunt.

Thanks Hoyt. I would like to take my first deer with this recurve in the month of September.

Steve, I believe I will bring an extra string and bowstringer and keep them in my truck just in case.

I don't take an extra string. But, I'm also pretty close to home (as you know).

I DO take extra tabs (plural), though. What's funny is, I have 3 that are supposedly identical. I can absolutely tell you which one I like best, by feel of it on the string, though. Sucks to go to a backup. But, I do shoot with it some (when I shoot!).

Good luck in Sept.. I "might" get out in Sept.. I might not. We open on 9./11.

I have an extra string and tab in my quiver at all times. Both are used and well broken in so if the time comes and either are needed, there wouldn't be a problem switching!

I dont often carry new strings. I make several for every bow I make just in case. But have yet to carry one, or need one. Might be a good idea for me to put one in my quiver just incase. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.

If I go on an overnight hunt I'll bring 2 bows and maybe an extra sting. Just for a day hunt I won't. If my string gets cut on a morning or afternoon hunt I figure the gods of the hunt are against me and I'll go home. I hope this doesn't jinx me, but in 45+ years of shooting bows I've never cut or had a string break.
