I hunted with a guide who would say he hosts three types of people. Hunters have fun, work hard and if the things go as planned they will connect. Killers are just hunters who can make things happen when the chips are down. And you DON'T want to be in the third group. Looks to me like this group has some killers! Should be an exciting year.
I'll update with good quality/big pics in a while or tomorrow... Finally have a nice shooter show up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My thoughts, exactly! Jake, nice buck! I'll be checking/moving cams and hanging a couple stands Sunday afternoon. Weather guy says we should have two thunderstorms blow through that evening. Life is all about recognizing and taking advantage of the opportunities! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I want to see the duschands?! My parents used to have one named Winston he had to be put down a year or two ago now. Best dog ever. This was him on the cover of th local paper. At any rate I'm not working this weekend at all, just going to play! Fishing, camping and drinking coldies after work today!
Supposed to rain all day Saturday... Sounds like a perfect time to get my butt into the public land and find my stand sites. I've been telling myself that I'm going to get in there and get it done the last 3 weeks, but things just keep coming up. I also have 1 trail cam that I haven't set up, need to find a place for that. I will be enjoying some cold brews tonight!
Here are Ruby and Amber in 2014 (Ruby is Amber's "aunt"): Here is Amber with her first find, a ~600 yd track that ended in a swamp: And here is one of Ruby's many finds, a buck that burrowed into a muddy swale and otherwise never would have been recovered: -fsh
Thanks, this study jives with a couple of very nice bucks that used to show up in my soybean field around 10 pm and leave around 4 am - like clockwork. I never saw them during hunting hours... that's how they get to grow big, lol. -fsh
Re-secured permission on one of my favorite spots last night. a very thick ravine surrounded by beans and corn. With the rain coming tomorrow it sounds like a good time to check on the stands (left up year round) and hang a camera.
I just wanted to read this one article, but after finishing it I clicked a link to another.... then another... then another... Lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Posted some of my summer pics in the trail camera section if you guys wanted to check them out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had a landowner give me exclusive permission to bowhunt his (110A+) property this year - my Hunter Safety Instructor creds carried weight, as he said he had turned away several other requests as just not trusting the individuals. I put several cams in some promising spots, but so far it's been does, fawns, and "dinks". There are a several dense thickets/swamps on his farm and I know the potential for a shooter is good - it's nice trying to sort out a new property... -fsh
That's awesome!! Exploring and trying to read/figure out new ground is where the bulk of my enjoyment comes from. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
