I need to make some changes to my game plan. I'm seeing deer... But the area I've been focusing on has been strictly does and small bucks. Going to be hanging a set this weekend on the other side of the property in anticipation of the rut.

One thing I can look forward to... With all of the does it is just a matter of time before the bucks show up to check on them.

Settled in. Bit warmer than I would like and the moon sucks but the wind is perfect. Can't kill em from the couch

Walked our corn field today with the south winds blowing 25mph. Nothing. Our beans got picked today too.

So I've never taken a buck with my bow. I've been waiting for a good one for 3 years. Got a smaller 8 pt on camera and told the father in law I would shoot it (his land). He looked at me and said... "You're not shooting those little bucks. Let them grow. If you want meat shoot a doe."

Not my decision anymore. I'm either killing a good buck or waiting until late season and taking a doe.

Didn't see anything tonight but didn't have high hopes to begin with. Looks like cooler weather headed our way middle of next week and this darn moon will be getting better as well. Did check one cam and had this guy Tapatalk Cloud - Downlaoad File 20161014_190506.jpg

He has been around since the middle of July so have a good feeling we will cross paths soon. Any thoughts on a name for him? At this point he is my target buck.

The big boys are still nocturnal around here, but I am seeing some chases and harassment. It's getting pretty interesting guys!

Sorry haven't been very active lately! Works been crazy, been out a few times just some small bucks and lots of does. Young bucks are defiantly pushing the does a bit. Got the 26th-31st off, should be decent timing!!

Was planning on a morning tomorrow, but this cold front is bringing 1-2" of rain (& thunderstorms)... I should be able to hunt all Saturday and catch the backside/dry portion of the front.

Been slow for me here in Indiana so far. Seen quite a few deer but nothing to get too excited about.Big front just moved in over the last 24 hours and brought a lot of rain with it. Looks like it will be tapering off by mid afternoon so I will be in a stand tonight, tomorrow night, 2 hunts Saturday and 2 hunts Sunday with any luck.

Admittedly I've allowed life to get in the way of my hunting this October. It's probably for the better as I've put less pressure on my properties than I have in past years. I'm not use to my Cubbies playing October baseball and being of the life-long fan variety I tend to plan much of my hunting around making sure I am home in time for the first pitch!

Good luck to all - hopefully the cooler conditions trigger some movement!

I'm the same way with my Buckeyes. Lol.. luckily, we play a ton of night games this year.
And I agree with keeping your stands fresh. I have 3 particular stand sites that I will focus on when my vacation kicks in (begins Halloween day). I'll continue to check the cams and drop a little corn until then, in an effort to keep the does content.

Going to head out to one of my best stands tomorrow morning. Wind should be perfect and we are in a frost advisory tonight so hope to put a doe in the freezer.
