As far as hunting goes for me, we had a big front move they today with a lot of wind. I'm headed out in the morning (well a few hours). This is our coldest night we have had so far and it's shaping up to be a good hunt. This will only be my 2nd morning hunt. Been home last two weekends from school shot a eight pointer on opening day last week wasn't able to finally find him when I came back home from school this weekend not much left nor am I sure if we can count it fortunate to get the rack though
Sunday morning was great. 34 deg, with a light wind. About 7:30, a very nice 8pt came walking into the woods off of the bean field. Instantly knew which spot on the wall he was going to be calling home (mistake). I first saw him at about 50 yards. Slowly stood and positioned myself for the first shooting lane to my left. He gets to 25 yards and makes a hard turn toward the second lane to my right instead. Began adjusting my feet for that lane when the two man ladder stand squeaked. It took him a split second to process the noise and disappear. I had not seen him on camera at all this year. The two man stand had been put up in hopes of taking the boys out...but now I will question it everytime I consider climbing in. Probably going to take it down this weekend and try to locate the source of the squeak.
Thanks Matt. The more I look at him he is probably a 3 yr old. All I know is he will be a stud next year if he makes it. Looks like another cold front headed this way the end of the week. I will probably be back in that stand Friday night if the wind is right.
Not sure if anyone else did... But I just sent Fitz a PM asking him to check out the situation. I have no idea if we can count the deer or not.
Here is the response I received from Fitz: "If he can get his two pictures with it (hunter bow deer), it'll count." Get those pics and get that guy entered!
If Fitz says enter him, then do it. But some fella did this last year and caught a load of crap about it, so be prepared...
Got out on Sunday and saw quite a bit of action. Grabbed a few cams and had quite a bit of daytime pictures which was nice too see. Excited to get out Thursday!
