I'm starting to plan a trip for 2011. I'm leaning towards a SD Antelope hunt on public land. I just not sure where to go in SD. If anyone has suggestions from previous hunts they would be greatly appreciated. I'm planing on camping and may be traveling alone.

I'm planning one for 2010, I will get resident fees due to going to college their next year. The SD DNR website is a great place to start. Plenty of public land in the northwest corner of the state.

Sd like most western states has so much land its like dropping a pin in a haystack. I'm hoping to turn the haystack into a dirt mound

Where you end up going should depend on the amount of winter kill that the herd had. The Game, Fish and Parks will be able to help you out with that. Look into Harding and Perkins county. There's a small town called Bison (in perkins county) that i've stayed in when i went out west river deer hunting and rifle antelope with a small camping area that has restrooms and showers, its not much but it'll get you by. If you head straight north out of Bison just a couple miles there are alot of areas called National Grass Lands that hold good #'s of goats. Remember though, the amount of winter kill is the key. Find the areas with the lowest # of winter kill and key in on those areas.
