I took a little walk today to pulls some memory cards from my cameras, and noticed many scrapes popping up.

At one point next to a very thick grassy/briar patch there were 3 scrapes in a 20 foot stretch along the edge. As I got into the woods I found 4 more scrapes scattered about. This all seems a few weeks early for what I have seen in this area in years past.

Anyone else notice any scrapes popping up?

Side note---I was able to sit down with the wind in my face and watch a VERY nice 3.5 year old 10 pointer meander around gnawing on acorns for 5-10 minutes about 60 yards off. He never even knew i was there.:D

I saw 2. Neithor were really worked hard. Both were in places that had scrapes last year.

Yeah these weren't really tore up bad, but they had been worked over recently.

Mature bucks will scrape in August, sometimes earlier.

funny you should say that Rob. I kicked up a nice buck about 150 yds from one of the scrapes. He was cool because he had the whitest antlers I have ever saw. More investigation showed that he (or another large deer) bedded in this area a lot.

There is a scrape I found near a heavy trail into a field I hunt and actually watched a mature doe work the overhanging branch the other evening. A first for me!
