Is there anything you can do to take advantage of a scrape you cannot hunt over? I've got an active scrape that is about 50-60yds from a stand location. There is absolutely no chance of hunting it, one side of it is neighboring propert, side towards my stand wouldn't allow it either.

I can't see this scrape from my stand, so I'm not sure when it is being tended to or by what. It's located on a electric right of way and is basically at the corner of it and a 4 wheeler trail which is my access point to the stand. I have no option but to walk past it every hunt, it was made within the last 2 weeks so don't think I'm having a big impact on it. So, is there a way I can use it to my advantage 60 yds away?

I've though dragline, but would I also pour scent in the scrape as well as on the drag? Definitely don't want to have them abandon it altogether.

    Thanks

absolutly there is ways, I dont try to even hunt over them. Try and figure out the direction the Buck will approach the scrape from. They will sometimes stand way way back and let the wind carry the scent from the scrape to them.

Is this scrape getting hit or was this a one time scrape of a horny buck?

Good question, I just noticed it on my last hunt on Sunday. It was definitely fresh, but I won't know until tomorrow if it is active. The licking branch above it was bare leaved where the rest of the branches were still holding a lot of leaves. The scrape itself is about a 3 foot diameter, and had a ton of scratch marks in it.

To me it looked more like one that would be found in a simple scrape line, and not a community scrape. I didn't see any others around though, but I didn't really go out of my way to look either, didn't want to leave too much of a scent trail.

I'm still pretty much a rookie so I'm still learning on this stuff.
