My dad and I went to a new 80 acre farm today. The guys fields are fenced off for his horses so there are no crops but right across the fence is soybean and corn. He has 1 little hay field on the back side of the ridge. There is a big ridge running down the left side of the farm and it runs into a flat where 3 ridges come together . On the flat is a nice crop of Red and White Oaks. The flat is only 30-40 yards wide and the same long. There are trails coming down all 3 ridges and across 1 hill side into the flat. The ground has a bunch of acorns and is littered with deer droppings. I really liked the looks of it. At the back of his farm there is a bowl that has a couple nice trails coming through it. That is also has acorns and deer droppings. There is a nice trail coming off the neighbors that cuts just inside the woods of his back pasture and into the side hill. The bowl also is grown up with briars and ferns. My dad is looking back there. These are the 2 places that really jumped out at us. They seem to have some good sign. There is a little point back by the hay field we are going to check on when we hang stands. The woods is all ridge and bowls. All in all it was a good trip to the woods! I am pretty excited!!
