    Well they are now

but before, a gay couple could not be legally married in the state of LA, so how can you say that all individuals had the same rights?

the federal government has every right to stop a majority populace from infringing upon the rights of a minority

    even at the states level

You really think so, Hooker? That protection will only last until LGBT activists decide to sue churches for discrimination because they refused to marry them. The lawsuit will make its way through the court system, eventually making it to the Supreme Court where in time, given the Supreme Court's current make-up, another liberal ruling will be made.

I can't legally smoke weed in Missouri, but I can in Colorado. Rights are not equal from one state of the union to the other. How is this any different?

This is a civil rights issue, hence why the federal government had to intervene.

That being said, I believe in strengthening states rights.

The Supreme Court got it right on this one. Now on Obamacare...no.

I see both sides of the argument... personally, I could care less... none of my business what goes on in someone's personal life... I can only control what I do...

I can't believe someone could look another human being in the eyes, face to face and say "you don't have the right to marry because you are gay and are a sinner". I'm not going to my deathbed knowing I somehow prevented someone else from living a meaningful life. Nope not doing it.

    The hypocrisy is beyond laughable.......

I can honestly say that I don't really care about this. This country and the world have much bigger problems. When is this country going to stop wasting its time and energy fighting against each other over gay marriage, gay rights, rebel battle flags, black vs. white, rich vs. poor liberal vs. conservative, religion vs. athiesm and the like and start addressing the fact that there is an enemy rising that is hell-bent on our destruction with the numbers in reserve to actually make it happen?

I don't see how that lawsuit could hold much ground. I would guess (Im just some redneck, no clue honestly) that if a church said we do straight marriages and turn down a gay couple and are sued, it would be like suing a whitetail outfitter for not offering them a guided moose hunt. Just a guess though.

Either way, I don't know enough about how this was passed to know if I agree with the manor it was passed, but I do agree with the ruling. I think its about time we move on from this. Want to see republicans in office? Let go of things that make no difference in your life, like who marries who, and focus on real issues. To many republicans get so caught up in agendas like this and it turns off potential voters before they even take the time to hear more of what we have to offer. This is a dumb thing to dwell on (unless the ruling came unlawfully), we should be happy its behind us and focus on real issues and get a republican in the office again. Just my couple pennies anyway.

The only problem I have with this is that some day when I have kids I don't want them growing up in a country that thinks gay marriage is acceptable, normal, and is promoted by media. Do I care if people of the same sex get married? No. Do I want my kids growing up in a society that doesn't view gay marriage as a sin? Same answer

I'm very much in favor of making many things legal, however meth is definitely not one of those things. Horrible destructive drug.

There are all kinds of things I don't understand about our judicial system, John. Peope have sued and won in cases where anyone with a shred of decency and common sense would have dismissed the suit outright. Unfortunately, decency and common sense aren't prevalent in our judicial system these days.

I don't believe in sins. So even if people didn't accept others for who they are, I would not view gay marriage as a sin. That statement is flirting with the line of keeping religion out of law. If the reason you are against it is because you feel its a sin, you have no ground to stand on in my opinion when it comes to if this should be allowed or not. And if people want to "sin" without breaking any laws, let them! More space for your in whatever after life you are hoping to achieve!

And I think you are a little late if you do not want this sin promoted. My keyboard would be so tired if I spent time writing up the movies and TV shows and plays and news stories and so on that support and "promote" same sex relationships. Want to know a sin that should be exposed as evil and stop being promoted? Cheating on a spouse. But that's the norm in the media these days also, no one seems to care about that. I wonder why.

I want the marriage laws changed further. I want (5) wives and I should not be discriminated against because of my needs. I have had these feelings my whole life and anyone that would deny me my freedom is a racist. It will not change your way of life if I have (5) wives, so please help me get these laws changed.

    Yours Truly,

Just one of the slippery slopes.
