I have only seen one in my whole life "in the wild" and that was under a 2x4 in texas at a VERY sucessful hunt. Scared the CRAP out of me

When me and my family lived in Mexico we would wake up to black scorpions 2 or 3 times that size. And people around here freak out about mice in their homes. Lol

My old home was coverd with those. We always checked our sheets, clothes, and shoes. One poped me as I turned my alarm clock off one morning. Hated those things.

I kind of like scorpions. Had a 'pet' emperor scorpion for a bit. It was a PITA to keep and watching it chew up it's victims (crickets) gave me the willies... but it was an interesting creature.

Supposedly there are oodles of them just to the west of here. I may buy a blacklight and wander around the desert to see if I can find some.

Closest thing to scorpians we have in Hicksville are velvet ants aka "cow killers" which are actually wingless wasp. They are 1" long. They are the toughest insect I've ever seen.

I picked up a 6X6 chunk a' wood that needed moved about two years back..bare handed.. and the same kind of scorpion (pictured above) got me on my pinky finger. Just the finger itself went numb for two days and then subsided. They usually hang out under things and in wood. You just have to check. Gloves help.
