Book scores discredit the animal's true production...and to take it one step further inch scoring discredits the true definition of a trophy: maturity. Your opinion is just that YOUR opinion to discredit another's or act like a pompous jerk merely discredits yourself. There is a way to communicate ideas respectfully. I myself don't see the OP's buck grossing close to 170...but then again I've always been one to underestimate bucks on hoof.

I honestly, don't see him going over 150, sorry but that's just my thoughts. He just doesn't have the height or width to be 170. But, that's just my opinion. Either way a very nice buck1 I wouldn't think twice about dropping him.

I think he's about 156...... add in the junk makes him about 160+.

I'm thinking mid-high 50's gross. He's a dandy either way and hope you kill him!

As for the chest pumping turd bag that's gods gift to scoring deer I'd love to see your all BOWHUNTING trophy room since your so easy to discredit anyone for taking a mature animal with any legal weapon. Even if you have a wall of 200's your still acting like a D-bag!

Great Buck!!! I would SHOOT him in a heartbeat!!!

However, I think you are giving him too much credit in the lenth department. I don't think the brows are 5, the 2s are 10, or the 3s are 8 and 9. He is definately over 20 inside. Maybe 21 or 22??

Mass is tough... The velvet really puffs them up. If he makes 36 inches of total mass he will be doing great.

He could sniff 160 with the extra junk...

GOOD LUCK!!! I would love to see the hero shot on that guy.

Just my opinions. Been wrong before!

    Thanks
    Chris

That's an awesome buck no matter what state he's in. You can't eat antlers anyway, good luck tagging him this season!

    This might help.

I shot this guy last year with a pistol.(don't lynch me..I like all forms of hunting!;))

He was a similar buck, but his mains were 27 inches.
    22 1/4 inside spread.

He JUST grossed 160 with the help of a 1 1/4 inch sticker off his right base.

I don't think he'll make the 150 mark. I think he's closer to mid 140's tops. When that velvet comes off a person can then have a better Idea. Velvet has broke my heart a few times. None the less stud buck there BM!

So true, it amazes me each year how much some bucks don't seem to shed even a mm of velvet while others you'd swear loss over 40 inches!

As is: He would gross 153 2/8 & net 144 7/8. I still think he will grow more. Just about any hunter in any state, would be proud to shoot that deer.

HECK of an accomplishment with a pistol, and a dandy buck at that! Ive always wanted to try and kill a mature buck with every legal weapon.

I'd love to kill a buck with a pistol. So far I have only killed a doe with my 44 mag.

I think he will be somewhere in the 150 to 155 range but I'm awful at scoring pictures. I can tell you I wouldn't hesitate to fling an arrow if he were in range. Great looking buck! Hope to see the hero shots in a few months.

Thanks guys. I switched to pistols about 5 years ago. Taken 4 with a revolver, and 3 with a single shot Encore.
Adds a new element of fun to gun hunting.(plus they are easier to carry:tu:)
