Okay, lets start by saying this is a PA buck.... that's all the more detail I will give on location, my buddy and I have spent more time than I care to think of traveling around this state looking for a true PA giant buck than I care to think of, and this is by far the best deer we have found on property that wasn't posted. I will say that after knocking on doors, my buddy and I talked to the land owner and gained permission to hunt this property. Nobody else hunts these woods and my buddy scored a nice 3.5 year old 8 point from this property last season.

Well, there was a big buck hanging out last season and he disappeared from our radar right before season started. There was one sighting of him during archery season last year but never afforded a shot.

He showed back up this past week and my buddy sent me the pics when he checked the trail cam today.... he hit a spurt and is now just an absolute giant. We have been talking and trying to figure out our best guess as to his gross score and I am curious as to what others think. He is obviously incredibly wide, but I for one think that it takes away from his tine length and mass making one think that he has shorter tines and less mess than he actually does.

So, give it your best guess......

157 4/8 for the big guy. He has a little bit more growing to do so he should end up around 160.

Nice buck, 20 inside, but tines make score. 140 net max.... I would pass but a nice breeder. Add tines to a base score of 80 on a main frame 8 and 90 on a main frame 10. After You look at 150 plus on a regular basis You will get it. They always drop at 160 and Mr. Lufikin drops by and reality sets in.

Thanks Tim, I was thinking a little more than that, but that is right around what my buddy was thinking.

Here is a run down of what I was thinking for score...

    Inside spread- 23"

    Left Main Beam- 23"
    Right Main Beam- 22"

    Left G1- 5"
    Right G1-5"

    Left G2- 10"
    Right G2-10"

    Left G3- 9"
    Right G3- 8"

    Left G4- 3.5"
    Right G4- 5"

    Left Mass total- 20"
    Right Mass total- 18"

    Left Abnormal Points- 2"
    Right Abnormal Points- 3.5"

    Total Gross Score- 167"

Seriously? Not being a jerk, but REALLY?

I stayed fairly conservative on him as I always do. That way they can only be bigger if I am wrong. I hate ground shrinkage. LOL

Just to be clear when asked for an estimated score in this forum, we are counting everything including abnormal points. Granted it is not book scoring but we will worry about that should we kill him and want to enter him in the book later. This is just for fun.

You are a real piece of work. I'd like to say a little more than that but I will refrain.

Buck Magnet, he is a beast and a buck most of us only dream of getting within bow range. Best of luck, I will be up in PA this weekend.

160". That is a great PA buck. Good luck getting an arrow in him. Can't wait to see your hands on him.

Let's get this thread back on track. No more chest thumping.

BM, that's a STUD for PA, or anywhere for that matter. I had him pegged just a touch over 150, but I'm no expert.

Well, there was only one chest thumper....

BM, solid buck and def. a shooter. He would be a shooter in ANY state if you ask me or 95% of the deer hunters I know. Who cares about a book.

Congrats on the mounts they look really nice. That is a great looking buck no matter what state and I would also say mid to upper 150's also. Good luck getting on him this year.

It is getting really close to the season I would be worried about having to get my elbow replaced if I patted myself on the back so much. :poke:
