I know this is a bow Forum. but bought a new rifle and need some inputs on scopes ive got leupolds on 2 guns and a nikon on another. i cant afford a leupold right now. which would be a good scope but not way to expensive?? so far looked at Nikon,BSA, and Bushnell
If it were me, I would hold off on buying until I saved up the cash to buy the one I want. You said that you already have 3 guns that are scoped.
i mean i love nikon. my 30 06 has a nikon 4-12 and my range finder is a nikon. i was jw if i should stay with it or if the bushnell or bsa were any good
I have owned several different brands of scopes and I always end up buying a leupold in the end. If I had to choose any other brand it would likely be nikon.
Nikons are the best for the money if your looking for a cheap dependable scope. Most of them come with the BDC and with the Spot On program the average Joe can shoot almost any distance.
Nikons are (IMO) the best combination of value and quality scope on the market. That being said, I am also a fan of the Bushnell Banner dusk/dawn series. They are tough as hell and usually ~100 bucks less than a Nikon. They keep their zero and don't leak, and their relief and FOV is very respectable. Full disclosure however- clarity is not as good as a Nikon. That being said, my experience is a Bushnell is as good a "budget" scope as there is. However, sometimes you can get lucky and find a Nikon on sale for less than $200. If you're not in a rush, take your time and look around, you'll find a good Nikon for a good price. If you have to have a scope now and don't have a lot of money to spend, I don't think you'll be unhappy with a Bushnell for 100.
Redfield scopes are now made by Leupold - they are very reasonable in price and have the same warranty as Leupold and Nikon...I myself like the Nikons just as much as the Leupolds but would purchase any of the 3 depending on the gun and shooting needs - I definitely stay away from Simmons, Barska, Tasco and Bushnell due to many failures after warranty and they definitely don't have the light gathering ability/quality of glass as Leupold and Nikon. Sure wish I could afford something like the Kahles or Swarovski optics though.
My dad just got a Nikon Prostaff at Gander MTN. for $150 but there was a $20 mail in rebate so he got it for $130 bucks. One of the nicest scopes I have ever looked through. Crystal clear and the BDC reticle is great for his .270.
