How many of you guys use Scentlok hunting gear. I was wondering if it actually lives up to the hype and if its worth the price?

Honestly there is no substitute to hunting the wind. But if you look at it ScentLok pricing is in alignment with most layering systems and offer the same functionality. I'll take any advantage I can get with in reason. I know that doesn't really answer your question but sometimes believing your equipment is doing something gives you the confidence to make stuff happen. Hope that makes sense. Good luck.

I don’t believe ALL the hype, but you can find good deals on their clearance page. I do believe it is quality clothing. It’s built well, to size, comfortable, and fits me well.

I used it for years. I can't say it was some magical thing. I do believe it may have helped and was very warm with the lining. That being said I haven't used it in 5 + years. I practice good scent control and play the wind. The is no product in my openion that can fool a mature white tail bucks nose. Mite buy u a few seconds tho.

I agree with most on the hype. I have scentlok clothing I bought during a end of the year clearance and can't complain. I like it for the fit, it's quite and good concealment. Keeps you warm enough with good baselayers.

Here are some statements regarding the effectiveness of ScentLok clothing as determined during lawsuit from several years ago.

    • “Expert testing found that, using highly elevated test odor concentrations that were ‘likely a ten thousand fold greater than a human body could produce in the course of 24 hours,’ Scent-Lok carbon hunting clothing fabrics blocked 96-99% of the odor compounds, and essentially 100 percent of the surrogate body odor compounds tested.”

    • Scent-Lok carbon hunting clothing fabrics dramatically outperformed noncarbon fabrics at blocking odor permeation in head-to-head testing:

    • “Expert testing also found that after drying, or washing and drying, Scent-Lok carbon fabrics continue to be highly effective at blocking odor permeation.”

Regardless of the scent control, they do make a high quality product that is priced in line with most other quality products.

Overpriced and overhyped. However, I got a top and bottom set during a "buy a top and get free pants" sale, got the set for $90 and its a good mid-season set even though it's advertised as "all season".
Pro: Comfortable, decent mid-season outer layer, quiet.
Con: No easy access zippers on legs, wrist cuff does not have much give (layering issue), sleeves are a bit tight for any layering.

They are the same claims as any other "scent blocking" brand; nothing is better than wind. They are still fabric and will hold stank no matter what. If you can get a good deal, go for it, they are comfy.

I couldn't agree more. Hunt high, and play the wind. It'll save you a lot of money, and you'll still kill deer.

I find it along side with under armour gear. Both are extremely comfortable in my opinion and the material last. Maybe the product line isn't as pricy as sitka gear but I'll buy them all day long vs the real high dollar stuff.

Thanks for the input. I bought an early season outfit and I'm gonna give it a whirl and see how I like it.

I am sure you will love it. I have been wearing nothing but scent lok for the last 3 years. But you can’t beat a good wind.

For everyone that says hunt the wind, you cannot account for all the variable of the wind. Where I hunt, the wind swirls and changes direction during most of my hunts. Deer show up from every direction, regardless of the wind. I can't account for that either. I always hunt the stand the give me the best wind, but that doesn't mean that's what the wind will actually be doing during my hunt. The more I can do to eliminate my scent, the better.
