I thought about the preorbital as well. I use Trophy Blend Deer Herd in a Stick anytime before the pre-rut.

Ive had good luck with Kishels Mock scrape kit. Last year I started using it in July until November. I also grab regular doe and buck pee scent by different manufacturers and use a different scent each time I go out. I like to make the deer think new deer keep showing up.

I don't know enough about scents yet so I am not going to use any this year. I used a bunch of different ones last year, everything from Code Blue to Hunters Specialties to Tinks and a few different others. I used doe pee, doe in estrus and dominate buck urine. I had no luck when using any of it. By then end of the season I was so confused about what to use and when, I decided then that this year I would leave it out of my hunting plan until I know what I am doing with it and focus more on how to use wind and cover my own scent. I am going to learn more about mock scrapes this year and incorporate it into my 2012 season plan. Then learn how to use all the others.

Pre-orbital scent is from the glands near a whitetail's eyes. Its the scent they primarily use on licking branches, some of which they will use year round. You can find it online with "the Google".

    Preorbital or Buck

Fitz is right about preorbital scent. I personally use H.S Lickin Stik and have had deer of all age classes repeatedly visit the site. Don't be afraid to use this scent. Another thing........buck urine....like Kev Kishel says"the most misunderstood scent there is". I have had,by far, way better response to buck urine than doe in heat. Sythetics??????personally haven't had any luck
