Yes I know its been asked before, but I am gonna ask it again as it is the beginning of a new season and many new members/hunters. So what's your scent elimating / reducing procedure from the washer to storing your camo til its time to suit up and head into the sticks? 1. I'll start out @ the washer with some kind of scent free detergent aswell as baking soda ill repeat this cycle two or three times with new camo or before opening day. 2. I'll remove from the wash and carry outside spray all clothes with scent away and hang them up in the pines to dry for a few days. Although once it gets below 32 ill use the dryer with scent free dryer sheets. 3. I store all camo in giant zip lock bag with baking soda in the bottom. I may also throw twigs, pine needles, grass, etc. In the bag to further cover scent. When its time to walk into the woods depending on time of year ill get dressed @ the truck or base of the tree before I climb. As far as showering goes a week before the season ill switch everything out to scent free dove soap, scent free shampoo, scent free deoderant, and a fresh towel washed in scentfree soap. Let's hear yours! Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
When I had a truck I would be sure not to sit on the tail gate like many do after changing into there camo. I see this so many times and you know how much crap goes along that tailgait. Otherwise I pretty much do all the little thing to try and keep clean. I am already showering with tinks soap and shampoo in preparation for the set 15th opener. I have washed not only my hunting cloths but all my cloths with tinks detergent also. Just a couple examples for you to ponder. T
wash all my gear with scent free detergent, take them outside to dry. then the day before i go hunting i will mix up some dry powder activated carbon with water in a 5 gallon bucket and rinse all my clothes in it then hang them up to dry on the clothes line or depending on the weather maybe in the garage. then put them in a scent free tote. the morning of the hunt i will shower in scent free soap, shampoo and all the goods. put on a base layer which i also washed in scent free detergent, head to the timber. put all my gear on and take a little activated carbon with me in a ziploc baggy, put a little in one hand and do my best rub down from head to toe with it trying to cover the areas where scent is most likely to seep out. such as boots, arm pits, groin area and even up around my head and neck. take to the stand and hope all the hard work pays off.
i basically run the same scent free showering and washing routine as the rest of you. i feel transporting as many of your scent free hunting clothes as u can in a scent free tote to where you park your vehicle and then changing there is key. im not too shy to go down to underwear at the truck and dress fully in scent free clothes out of my "clean" tote right before i walk into the woods. socks, boots, hat, gloves, license holder, safety harness, backpack, rope, everything. everything comes out of that tote moments before walking into the woods. give myself a rub down with a fresh switch of pine or some local shrubery, a quick hope and a prayer and were set.
Camo's: --Wash in scent free soap and HANG dry (dryer seems to shrink and fade camo) --Store clothing in ceder closet in camp (alot of ceder trees in our woods) --Dress outside before hunt (ride in golf cart to stand so no smell) --Spray down before entering woods (take bottle with me to spray again in tree) -- (leave scent spray bottle in cooler over night to get liquid COLD, like air conditioning when your hot in the tree. AWSOME TIP) --
Im going with the showering routine this year with all scent free soaps. never tried it before so figured id give it a try. Wash all my clothes with scent free detergent then spray them with scent away and store them in a tote in the back of my suv. dress at the location im going to walk in and spray down with scent away one more time. then hit the woods and hope for a monster.
