So, I was wondering if people wear their pants on the inside or outside of their boots? I wear all rubber boots and I have heard both ways to wear my pants tucked into the boots and also outside the boots. Supposedly, tucked in keeps scent down from your pants rubbing on stuff, but like I said I have also heard it actually causes more scent to come out that way. Any advice?
I normally tuck they in. If I leave then out is when little critters like to crawl up in and my pants always rub on thorns are wear quickly
Ill usually tuck them into my socks and then into my boots. It usually depends on the weather as to what boots I wear. Ive never heard of one way or the other putting out more scent.
When I wear rubber boots I always just tuck them in to avoid the pants getting wet walking through the fields and crossing creeks, I have friends that wear them over and they still kill deer just preference in my opinion and practice good scent control and it really shouldn't matter.
When I wear my Rubber boots I tuck them in just to avoid them from getting wet walking in, I'm not sure if one way or another is better for scent control tho.
I normally tuck them in but when winter rolls around my pants are too big and insulated to fit in my boots. I really don't think it will matter as long as you keep your stuff washed in scent-free laundry soap and spray down in the field.
Yeah, I tuck mine in to, but I have read that that actually causes more scent to come out. That's why I was wondering if anyone else had ever heard about that one. Scent is one of pet pevs, I try my hardest to be as scent free as possible.
SO, another question do people on here put there hunting clothes on when they get out of there car or do you put them on at your house then drive to your location?
If its raining hard, I don't want outer pants tucked in b/c rain will travel down into the boot. So my goretex pants on the outside. If its late season I have heavy bibs on that won't tuck in very comfortably, so I tuck in my inner layer pant and leave the outer layer untucked. I get dressed in the field, though I put on my scentlok base layer at home after shower. Just don't stop for gas on the way.
I always carry my hunting clothes in a tote or scent prof container and dress at the hunting location
Seriously? I've heard of doing this I just can't imagine. Seems like a big hassle and I can't imagine changing in the woods quietly. What do you do with your old cloths? Leave them in a bag on the ground somewhere? Just curious. Not to hijack the thread. I tuck in my boots to keep the critters out of my pants and my pants dry. I also store my boots in the old bags of feed corn we use to fill the feeders with a little corn at the bottom.
