i dont really believe scent killer is necessary or scent lok or any of that crap it looks good it sounds good but i have walked up on more deer than you can shake a stick at i'm talking 15-20 yrds no scent killer nothing just a pair of k-mart insulated camo cover-alls and walmart camo brahma boots nothing fancy and they had no clue i was there. i think as long as folks buy it they'll be more than glad to sale you overpriced goods paying close to $200.00 for hunting clothes yeah right i'll buy that oceanfront property in arizona too while i'm at it. it all boils down to good woodsmanship and hunter skills everything else is just hype!
The heck with scentlok, ozonics or human odor altogether, I am going to defeat the deer's sixth sense. I am going for Human Electromagnetic Energy Concealment!! http://www.hecsllc.com/
thought id chime in.... i really do think it sucks it has come to this but they arent the only company dealing with situations like this. i am in the boat with everyone else in thinking this stuff doesnt conceal or absorb every bit of scent... its impossible. but in my thinking it doesnt hurt to have a little bit of extra help. if the carbon abosrbs or covers any scent at all its helping. by the time i shower with the right soap, wash clothes with the right soap, spray my stuff down, and wipe myself down before hunts all together this has to help. i think the prices are absurd but i did find a lightweight suit this past winter for like 70 bucks. its comfy, light enough not to sweat to bad on those 80+ degree days, and a camo pattern i was looking for. to get a decent pair of pants and a shirt mite have been a little cheaper but im a fan of coveralls due to the simplicity when i bow hunt. i think its win win if you use the stuff, even though the wind does have the last say so, but personal opinion will always come into play too.
I think in the overall realm Scent-Lok, Scent Blocker, etc are good products. Will they eliminate ALL of your odor??? No, but they eliminate enough to give you a little bit of an edge, and that's why there are a LOT of people who've bought the stuff and would SWEAR by it. Don't get me wrong, I don't own a thread of it, but I do have THE TECHNOLOGY that is was based off of, and it's actually BETTER than SL or SB would ever be. A military Chem Suit is where the idea originated. And yes, you can FART in one and the guy next to you will never know. And you can do it many times over. The TRAGEDY I see in the whole thing is basically, someone spent a whole damn bunch of money on a lawsuit that was never needed. $$$$$ was basically poured into a group of lawyers pockets, a company's reputation destroyed all so someone could settle a petty argument. If someone buys SL or SB or whatever, more power to them. I use odor eliminating products as well, and will swear that they are an improvement in quality and efficacy over most of the "non-odor eliminating" products. For scent control, I think too many people overlook the thing that gets them busted the MOST, which is their Mouth/nose/respiratory tract.... Approximately 85-90% of the odor were trying to eliminate comes from our breath..... Cover that odor up, and you've increased you odds a little before you ever hit the woods.
Well..............I did Sad story on many levels. Think back at all the people who were pounding their fists on their computer desks angrily defending these criminals and their "science".........their opinions of course based on nothing more then cartoonish pictures on Scent-Loks website and stories of one day when a deer was downwind. I even had some dude from Scent-Lok PM me and tell me he was going to have me banned from HNI if I kept exposing their lies. A large portion of the hunting community was taken advantage of............and what is the saddest part of that is they were taken advantage of because these people preyed on ignorance............let's face facts, Snickers makes commercials with buck toothed knuckle dragging morons representing hunters for a reason........right or wrong it is certainly a stereotype for hunters. While that example is extreme the truth remains that the chance of an average hunter knowing the detailed science involving a carbon molecule is about as likely as Hunsucker not seeing a buck all year. They KNEW this (and they are not the only ones taking that low road) and they took advantage of it to the nauseating extent that they often spoke in a sort of "We know you're all too dumb to understand this so just trust us" tone. Unfortunately most guys did..............they bought the garbage because they WANTED to believe it was true. They didn't understand how it worked so they trusted these companies and all the hunters they saw on TV promoting the trash. People made hundreds of millions of dollars by flat out lying and commiting fraud. They should go to jail for that because there is no way they didn't know they were full of it before they set out to deceive people. It truely is disgusting. I wonder if all the "stars" who have fueled the greatest betrayal of hunters ever will stand up and be accountable for their role in this disgrace............my bet is no chance in hell. They will simply disappear from the sponsor list. I wonder how many people will apologize to T R Michaels for calling him every name in the book for doing nothing more then exposing the carbon clothing industry for what it was...........a fraud. I wonder how many guys who fought with me tooth and nail in the past about this stuff will be man enough to admit they were wrong (T R probably has a better chance LOL) How pissed off are the guys who got jacked for double the cost of a camo suit and then spent all that extra time storing and standing by the dryer waiting for the magic regeneration cycle to end......not to mention the special soaps and sprays they were conned into buying as well. Also of interest to me is that guys would and I'm sure still will swear that they saw more deer and had deer downwind more often undetected with that suit on..............the power of suggestion is an amazing thing. Truely a real world example of "The Emperors New Clothes" Finally and perhaps most confusing is the venom spewed by so many who wanted so badly to defend these scumbags as if they were being attacked themselves (surely a reflex to not wanting to admit they got ripped off)...........no matter how much evidence was presented to them they just dug their head into the sand deeper and deeper to avoid the truth. Why that is I simply don't know. I have multiple doctorates in the field of science and have done published work in numerous science journals, I have been part of the review process for articles in JAMA, I have worked with carbon for over a decade in a lab setting..........in addition to that there were numerous others along the way with extensive experience with carbon in other areas of expertise such as public water, dry cleaning, govt service etc.............and not a single person I can ever remember who had even basic knowledge of carbon would do anything but laugh at their claims. Don't forget......I had to tell Scent-Lok they didn't even have Van Der Waals forces spelled right on their website.......these people were clowns. It just didn't matter..............guys believed what they wanted to for whatever reason, not wanting to look like a fool for paying for nothing............being brainwashed by TV......or personal feelings that they just hoped "that guy" saying what they didn't want to hear was wrong. These are not the guys I have sympathy for...........they were told the stove was hot and chose to grab it anyways. Hopefully the burn they got will help them in the future. The people I DO feel bad for are the innocent, hard working average Joe's out there on the farms and in the countrysides all over the US who through no fault of their own were simply lied to and taken advantage of for not having a chemistry background. To con these people out of their hard earned money is disgraceful and hopefully there is a special place in hell waiting for all the parasites who chose to lie and steal from others..............ironically it will be the first time they ever experience temps high enough to regenerate carbon.
Scent Lok is not the only item out there where peple were "lied to" . Many products purchased everday are misrepresented and built up in advertising. Diet programs are one example. Fast Foods are another. All this fingerpointing and I told you so threads are pathetic.
they should be forced to pay folks every dime they took from them its commercial thieving! they misrepresented thier product and decieved consumers and profited from deception & profited extremely well at the consumers expense! they are commercial thiefs! sale your product but be honest and dont decieve folks to put a buck in ya pocket cause at the end of the day your still a thief in a business suit!
Awful lot of pride being thrown around here. Maybe I should sue my wife for wearing a bra that makes her look a cup size bigger... Does SL or SB make you invisible? No more than Axe body spray makes women flock your way. Reminds me of buying and Kia Rio, then wondering why its paint is pealing after 3 years... Deception? Maybe? But come on, "They should burn in hell!"? I'm finding this thread more fascinating than the lawsuit....
Ya know the carbon suits were developed to help control the emanation of body odor. Weather they work to a point or not at all is one thing but these posts about farts are getting to be just God Damn STUPID! If your friend smelled like a fart all the time I don't think he'd be your friend and the only suit that would help would be a body bag. The notion that they would contain and prevent a smell that strong is rediculous and simple minded. GERM, not including the military version. See my opening post.
Its common sense for a bowhunter to hunt with the wind in there favor no matter what type of clothing their wearing scent-lok or no scent-lok.
They did make a mistake by claiming “100% odor elimination”… as a matter of law, nothing can claim that. So I agree, their advertising is misleading, but I never believed it to be 100% effective. I don’t think they are ruling on the effective-ness or ineffective-ness, sounds like the wording of the advertising as it pertains to the law of what you can and cannot say… Just like if you believe Bud Light will make you a likeable, popular, fun person by drinking it… they don’t actually say that, they just let you infer that from the ads. I’d say, in my experience, 30-50% effective. I can only relate my personal experiences, the stuff works if you use it as PART of a total scent containment system…
The problem is Scent Lok said all of this: "Odor eliminating technology" "Odor eliminating clothing" "Eliminates all types of odors" "Odor elimination" "Remove all odor" "Complete scent elimination" "Scent free" "Works on 100% of your scent 100% of the time" "All human scent" "Odor is eradicated" "reavtivation" When the fact of the matter is the charcoal adsorbs some of the odors, vapors, gas, etc. but not all, especially considering the actual amount of carbon the clothing contains is not significant. So you get partial adsorption of odors and even that only lasts until the carbon is saturated and how long is that? How much is used up before you even buy it off the rack?. Yet Scent lok hasn't been and still isn't saying that, this from there site: "Directions: Follow all care instructions indicated on garment label. Scent-Lok garments should be reactivated every 30-40 hours of field use. Immediately as the garments are removed from the dryer, place them in an airtight container. Always store garments dry, never damp. Washing needs may vary according to your body type and hunting conditions, however we suggest washing Scent-Lok garments only when noticeably soiled. Keep your Scent-Lok garments away from any foreign odors for best results and life expectancy. Excessive odors will require the system to be reactivated more often. Do not use cover scents in conjunction with Scent-Lok gear." The suit cannot be reactivated and the carbon it contains will become saturated, 100% guaranteed. Then what, you got high $ camo containing saturated carbon that you can't "ring out like a sponge" and reactivate but that is definitely not what they were representing with their marketing, saying the suits are effective for something like 3-5 years(yeah right). I haven't been too interested in the topic at all but the "serious hunters" article from d & dh caught my interest and actually pissed me off. Still selling bs in this article: http://deeranddeerhunting.com/article/Carbon-Clothing-Serious-Hunters-Know-the-Truth/ As far as Scentblocker there are several lawsuits in multiple states and at this point the US District Court has ruled on only the Minnesota case. The remaining lawsuits continue. Scentblocker was not named in the Minnesota case but was named in others.
Because I work in this industry, I realize my credibility isn't worth a crap considering every other pro is out there promoting gimmicks that don't work. I'm automatically thrown in that group just because I'm promoting a scent elimination product. The first one I've ever promoted mind you (because if I don't believe in something I don't care about the $$$) With that being said, I can't wait for some of you to try these Ozonic's. The reason we're working with them is because it will mean we get huge props when people realize they do work like we say. The only thing out there that does. The FBI proved this with drug dogs, and people still think it's a farse. Oh, the emails and texts I'll be getting from you guys. I get the same text message from everyone I have gotten to buy one. First night on stand, does come straight down wind, and then the texts start being sent. Dude, these things really work? Like I would be promoting these things if they didn't? Oh well, if it takes an extra 2 or 3 years for you to try them, it's your hunts your sacrificing. It took me 3 years to try one. Boy am I glad I did!!!!
