I remember a few years back making my own scent killer, from a recipe on one of the other sites.

With everyone trying to save a penny (especially me). Could someone psot it again.

I know it used baking soda, hunters green soap, and Hydrogen Peroxide. I just forget the ratios.

I use the stuff like water..making my own may be a chance to save $100 this season.

    From another post of mine:

I have used the following homebrew the last 3 yrs or so. As far as its effectiveness goes, there was an incident with my dog and skunk LOL, he did not get a direct hit but he was "misted" heavily. I sprayed him down with the scentkiller, wiped him down and sprayed again and the skunk smell was gone. I was a little amazed to say the least. Does it work for deer, don't know but I'll probably use it in some fashion again (equipment mostly, stands, pack, etc.) along with a store bought solution.

    2 cups Hydrogen Peroxide
    2 cups distilled water
    1/4 cup baking soda
    1 Tablespoon scent killer shampoo

Mix it up and let sit without a tight seal for a few days, shaking and mixing a couple of times a day.

Do you put this in a spray bottle and then spray down with this also? Or is this just a wash?

Spray bottle only, although I suppose you could use a cloth or paper towels to wipe stuff down.

It will leave a white residue (baking soda) on your gear, esp bows. I use it.

Let me clairfy. You still use it even though you get a white residue? Must not be that bad then?

I have to be honest. If the freaking scent killer spary was cheaper I would practice better scent control. But at $10 a bottle I have always cheated it a little.

I am going to try this and be a bit more liberal with my scent spray. Thanks.

All that residue wipes off with a damp cloth.

What would the total costs involved be? $8/gallon for the wildlife research spray +shipping is a tough deal to beat.
