Just want you guys to ponder on this....I recently just started using the Dead Down Wind Field Spray was wondering how many of you are a firm believer that this stuff works. I use to think that it did until I came in from the field from a morning hunt and took off my base layers. Sprayed them down with the Scent Killer and payed close attention to the arm pit area of the shirt. I left them outside to dry until I got ready for my evening hunt. Went to leave and took a quick smell of my base layer and the arm pits still had a good odor to them....Makes me wonder if I am just wasting my money...
scent blockers i used DDW this last weekend and it worked great i had deer coing in close but now i am broke out from head to toe do all scent blockers use same ingredients
Not sure. One thing Ive been doing is also when I wash my clothes i put in a few table spoons of baking soda. Seems to help out.
There are special scent killer detergents I have heard about, but there are also some brands of clothes that make "Scent-Lok" technologies. However you feel about these guarantees it's best to just go with your gut and try what you think is a logical way to take away your smell. Here is a recipe I found for scent-killing detergent Ingredients for Scent Killer: 16 oz. (2 cups) Peroxide (brown bottled stuff) 16 oz. (2 cups) Distilled Water or water from a dehumidifier ¼ cup baking soda 1 oz. On non-scented shampoo (I use Hunters Specialties green shampoo) (Or adjust amounts to whatever size you make accordingly) Let sit for several days (1 gallon milk jug works good with lid loose)
I dont have that problem in the arm pit area , i use Arrid XX unscented deoderant for years , the stuff works awsome , even on the hottest days .......Wally World for $1.98 a stick
If you are going to use the dead down you need to use the whole system deodorant, soap, clothes detergent, i even use the tooth paste ha ha... and another thing to do is get a carbon bag and store your clothes in that and try not to wear the clothes you are going to hunt with in your vehicle leave them in tha zipped up bag till you are out of the car. Every little thing counts!!!!
try out primos earth blend, that stuff is amazing. it has a smell of "earth blend" haha. So i belive it covers the human scent up more than others that have no smell
I use Scent-A-Way as you cant mess with science.:-) http://www.deeranddeerhunting.com/research/the-best-way-to-inhibit-your-scent
Here is a funny one for you. Used the recipe above and made some homemade scent killer...I let it set with the cap off for several days and went to use some opening day. Put the cap back on it and put it back in the cupbard. A week later my wife called me while I was at work to tell me the 2liter bottle had blown up and foam started to pour of of the cupbard...I was laughing my butt off
If u'r into char-coal lined clothing.Go to colemans.com(army surplus)U can get a brand new in package NBC unused chemical suit for less than 30.00......Get the British style for early archery, the material is thinner than the American style.my opinion.I have a tote full of them.DON'T WASH THE SUIT,IT WILL DISCINAGRATE!!!!!
Been using the Arm & Hammer unscented deodorant for years- Walmart = $1.98, anybody buying the hunter type deodorants for 5 or $6 dollars is just flushing money down the toilet.
what do you guys think about hunter specialties scent killer sprays and washes? Worked great in NW PA the first day but have heard some mixed reviews about it. Logan: Hoyt Vectrix cobra plus Qad pro hunter Beaman Rage 100 3 blade
I also use the scent killer spray, maybe it does help some, cant hurt, no matter what all you do you will never eliminate all human odor, all you can do is try to remove all you can, & whenever possible play the wind, this is not always possible depends on where you are hunting, I hunt big woods bucks in Alabama mostly mountain terrain where the deer can come from 360 degrees you just never know for sure.
