Hey Everybody, A couple months ago I purchased one of those High-Efficiency washer and dryers. I was told that I could only use High-Efficiency detergents in the washer. I tried getting a hold of someone at Scent Blocker, to see if they knew if I could use regular detergent in my HE machine. So does anyone know how much regular detergent I should use to wash my hunting gear??
Try calling the people who sold you the unit, they should know hopefully, or find out online somehow?
High efficiency detergent? We've already been duped into buying "ultra concentrated" detergent in tiny bottles. I'd say you'll be fine using anything unscented in normal doses.
Hunter's Specialties makes a HE Scent-A-Way Detergent. My roommate used it last year and it worked great!
TIDE, ERA, PUREX, whatever, they all make one. I'm yet to have a deer notice whether I spent $4 on Tide or Purex or $10 on a smaller amount of Hunter's Special Detergent. Moreover, if you're not washing the sheets you sleep on, the towels you dry with and the wash cloth you wash with, as well as the clothes you wear, what's the point really???? My house is mostly "Scent-Free" year round less a little softener for the kids clothes and sheets, come Sept. 1st, EVERYTHING goes scent-free, detergent, softener, dryer sheets. The wife understands that, and is in agreement.
Yep count me for scent away and also check out these tests that Deer & Deer hunting did I believe last year. http://www.deeranddeerhunting.com/article/the-best-way-to-inhibit-your-scent/
I've just used ALL scent free for the last couple of years and it seems to be working well.... A lot cheaper than the scent free products at the sporting goods stores and seems to work just as well.....
I wash the towels and a regular set of clothes to wear to my farm. I change when I get to my hunting area no matter how cold it is. It wakes up having bare skin showing in 30 degree temps.
