How do you all de scent your washer and dryer. My wife uses fabric softeners and scented dryer sheets and I am always worrying that the scent from those items will contaminate my hunting clothes. I use the hunting dryers sheets and usually run an empty load with some of my laundry detergent before starting. Does anyone do anything else??

ya you can do that, but see if she will switch to scent free detergent and sheets, that's what I have my wife do, then I still use my scent away products...

I have heard of some people doing a load of towels first with scent free products to help get the scent out.

I leave my dryer door open, to air out that snuggle-soft scent from inside the cylinder, when the dryer isn't in use : ) I also spray the inside of the cylinder and clean the heck out of the lint filter, before spraying that down as well.

Supposedly your household dryer isn't able to reach the temps needed to actually re-activate the carbon. I think that they do make some products to help the carbon activate at a lower temp but am not 100% sure.

I got my wife to switch over this weekend... So all the laundry is going scent free.

About the time I asked, she made a point of saying "funny, I am already tired of hunting this year"...

No and no even if you do. ;) :D (At least that's what all the experts who just testified in court said. Couldn't help it. :D)

Likewise, all the detergent, softener, and dryer sheets in my house are scent free starting last week. Would've been a couple weeks earlier if I'd been going elk hunting (still  about that one!!! ) But I don't pay the extra $$$ for the "hunter's" soaps, I use ALLL Free and Clear, Snuggle: Scent-Free, and Bounce: Scent Free, stuff from now until I'm ready to quit hunting on EVERYTHING in the house.....

    Bro,
You're not gonna "re-actvate" that carbon. You want SCENT-CONTROL, get some antimicrobial base layers and socks, wear a face mask, and even after all that, HUNT THE WIND to the better extent. Go one step further, and pick up a Miitary Chem suit, that's the technology that Scent Lok and Scent Blocker came from. Do they work??? I'll say they do, but they're not 100%, then again, nothing really is.

If you aren't using more soap or softner than needed the scent shouldn't stay in your machine. But if you are concerned I would run a load of towels and then run the thing empty a few times and see if there are any suds. If no suds you should be ok to go ahead and use the unscented hunting products or ALL unscented
