My family always makes fun of me for handling all my laundered cloths with rubber gloves. Now I can show them this and say HA I'm not the only one that is crazy!!!

    that was good.

i do alot of the same.
i have a bucket of rain water at the cabin i wash my hands with before i even touch my gear.
also a tub of rail water i stick my boots into before i walk in.
i also take a bath with plain ivory soap before taking a shower. taking a bath is in my opinion the key to getting really clean. easier to scrub yourself.

I think he is definitely on the right track. wow that is discipline!!! I am nuts about scent but it seems this is all he thinks about. Especially words the end of the year or when it gets really cold out I find its a lot easier to get lazy. If I had my 10 YO son do that every time before a hunt I think he would throw in the towel on hunting. I think everything he said is 100% correct but WOW!!!

Wow and I thought I was OCD about my scent control.

    Thanks for sharing.

If I had to do that to kill a deer, I would take up knitting.

He is a great guy and very knowledgeable. I actually used to get my activated carbon powder from him. If I had the ability or the drive to go to his extreme I have no doubt I'd be impressed with the results....dude is an animal when it comes to scent control....and he kills some freaking slob mature bucks (despite being in Michigan where many think it cannot be done).

I think the guy is off his rocker. He makes it much more difficult then it needs to be.

I agree for me personally I wouldn't wanna do that much...however if you know Jim this all isn't a chore, it's what he loves doing.

Very knowledgeable is an understatement i think! I watched a 1 hr video on hinge cutting to create doe and buck bedding and transition routes to food sources. Very informative video. I would post the link but its easy to find on youtube. And i guess if i was retired which he said he was, id have a little more time to spend on stuff like he does. A good amount of my hunts are spent rushing and watching the clock like im in a race to be able to make it out! And he says he spends an hour getting dressed

Personally a lot of what I've learned and share on my site comes from the likes of Jim and Jake (Ehlinger). Both are awesome guys but I share a more similar mindset to Jim as he and I both feel a chainsaw is the only tool a person needs to create a whitetail haven if only one tool could be used!

There is a lot many of us can take from that video and use for our own preparation. I would say I will never go to the extremes with the carbon powder and all but some of the other products and methods he showed are definitely of use. The laundry detergent for one thing, I was one that still bought the scent killer type products thinking any and all laundry soap would have brighteners in them. Sure some list unscented and for sensitive skin and all but seeing a guy that takes things to the extreme like he does and uses Arm and Hammer unscented stuff was a good thing. Same with the Dove unscented soap.
