Have any of you used the scent blocker layer 1 setups they have? I'm refering to the mid-weight, expedition, and artic weighted wool jacket and pants they have. I just dont know which one to get for use as a base layer in about 20-30 degree colder mornings. Any info on their products would be great
I wear those over a good set of thermals. and if i need a little more for warmth i wear a pair of sweat pants and a hoodie fleece over them. and under my final hutning pants. As my father always say's. You can always take it off but you cant put it on if you dont have it.
Ok so I got a set of the Expedition weight layer 1 scent blocker layers. The inside of these things feel amazing. Very warm. They work better then the other thermals I once used. Good weight as well. I feel with wearing these alone in a midweight jacket and pants such as the protec I can sit comfortably in about 30-35 degree weather. If I added sweat pants and top we are looking at sitting in mid teen weather pretty nice.
I've been wearing the ScentBlocker under garments for about 4-5 years now and I love them. On days with temps into the 20's I usually go with a light weight wicking base layer (think Under Armour loose gear), topped with the mid-weight S3 Merino wool, then the Expedition weight merino wool, then my fleece jacket on top. If there's any wind I'll throw in a wind blocking vest under my jacket. IMO the ScentBlocker merino wool line of clothing is some of the best layering/insulating garments you can buy.
Ok so I have worn the expedition weight on a few hunts and they are awesome. I wore them with weather in the 20's with and outer layer (protec from SB) and they kept me warm. The wool helps greatly and the outer layer with wind blocker made my hunts an easy sit
I've been wearing this as my next to skin base layer this year and I love it. I'll probably end up picking up a couple more for next year. Very comfortable and warm for it's weight. Super Skin Poly Wool Baselayer Shirt - Hunting Base Layers
