Last week I decided to head onto my property and put my game cam back out. I was planning on one of two different spots and decided that I would check them both out before I set the camera up. I checked a field edge and it looked okay so I decided to head down the hill and check out a small patch of x-mas trees that the deer usually use to travel between two fields. I stepped into a clearing in the center and as I came around a tree their was a black bear laying down, we caught each other at the same time and the bear stood up then stood on his back legs before I could clear my throat and yell. The bear didn't stick around and shot through the brush. I am not sure why the bear stood up on its hind legs, but it was less than 15 feet away at the time. I wasn't packin a gun and I would hate to think how it could have ended if it was a female with cubs. Needless to say, I was packin heat today when I went to check the camera.... the worst part is that I didn't even get any pics of the bear!

Most times, a bear isn't gonna do anything but its better to be safe than sorry when the time comes and you catch a mother and her cubs at the wrong time.

bear are starting to make thier comeback where i live. we have had a couple situations that the bear actually went into our back yard and tore down the bird feeders, they can get to be pain actually setting all those feeders back up, but they really are neat to look at though the window tho

Thats crazy, glad your ok. I'm afraid of walking up on a sow with cubs, but that would never happen, no bears around here.. I've been close to black bears in North Carolina/Tennessee, but never that close!

Horrible picture, but I wasn't getting any closer:d
