Plot update on the above post: Coming in great. I’m gonna redo my failed brassicas with the same mixture tomorrow. We were able to save a nice buck the other day by cutting him free from a dead one he was locked up with: Unfortunately our best brassica plot is getting hit with a blight, we overseeded oats a few days ago: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The 12 point did make it, but I don’t exactly hunt his range. I have some friends/family who do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yessir. Actually happens quite often here, had 2 die a few years ago also in September. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is that a strip of velvet tangled in the antlers? Maybe they help each other get rid of it? They certainly weren't fighting over a doe.
Very interesting. I've never seen it in the woods and didnt think they tangled like that for a month or so. Good stuff Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I was always under the Impression they fought mostly for dominance and pecking order, rarely do they actually fight over an actual doe. Once does come into estrus i hardly ever observe fighting on my cams and in person, but in October i see a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They chase other bucks all the time if they are tending a doe, but if you get a determined interloper there could be a fight. I just thought it was early yet for that kind of interaction, having antlers locked.
Like I said, in my area I see the majority of the fighting between now and November 1st. After that your right, chance encounters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Setup a bunch of mock scrapes before this cold front moved in, pretty excited to see what the cameras show after it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Our brassica plot is killing it right now, was doing REAL bad a few weeks ago...but fertilizer and better weather saved it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Were happy with the turn around. Going back in tomorrow to check cams and make sure stands are good for the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
