Thought I would share, and figured this was bowhunting related.......might as well put in the General forum. :p My new pup "Johnny" will be arriving at my home either Thursday night or Friday morning. He was dropped off and left for dead in front of my parents vet clinic early last week, and was suffering from severe hypothermia and frostbite when my dad found him. As of today, he's nearly 100% recovered and only has a bit of damage left on one of his rear pads that my Step-Mom expects him to fully recover from very soon. As best as we can tell, he's most likely a Dachschund/Redbone cross. He may have a bit of Beagle in him too, but not sure. He should have a fantastic nose on him, and he apparently has a low key yet inquisitive personality and is very bright.........should be an absolutely ideal blood tracking and shed hunting dog. I joined United Blood Trackers tonight and will be sending in my app tomorrow to take the exam to get licensed in NYS. I'm pretty excited to get him home and start the training process, and will update more in a few days when I have some time with him and some more pics to share. I'm going to try and convince my wife to let me take him on a first shed hunting excursion weekend after next, I can't wait. For now, here are a couple pics to share. We named him Johnny. Our other dog's name is June. :D
Cool , Great lookin Puppy . I miss having "Boycee" my English Springer Spaniel about , dogs are so comforting . Enjoy Him Buddy .
A blood tracking dog, a shed hunting dog, and a great little companion. Sounds like you had a little blessing left on your parents' doorstep.
Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate it. I really can't wait to get him, it's going to be a long week. I'll post more pics soon. ROFL......I never even thought of that, pretty funny stuff. :D
I'm not much of a small dog person, but he's pretty darn cute. Good luck w/ the training. Nothing beats a well trained dog.
