I was out bowhunting Sunday morning and and about 7:30 in the morning I saw movement coming down a hinged corridor I did, all I could see was a white body and at first I thought I was seeing things and after glassing him I saw it was a white 4 pt buck, it came directly down trail to within 15 yards from me and I couldn't believe what I was watching, he then took another trail and walked directly by me and out of sight. He came from my main food plot and I have a couple of cams up overlooking it so I will be anxious to pull them. It won't be for another week though as I am only checking them if I happen to walk by. How rare are white deer? Scoot
I read a book that claimed that all animals experience albinism at equal rates. If you consider your circle of albino friends, you'll have a rough feel for how rare albino deer births are. The book also mentioned that other deer tend to shun albinos. I personally don't know any albinos, but like Johnny Winter.
I was able to take a pic with my phone of two albino deer in a field from this season. First time I have ever seen them in person.
thats awesome! I have seen an all albino 8 pt a few years ago, but where no hunting was permitted. This past summer when scouting, saw a piebald doe. It truly is amazing! I would really love to shoot one, but have heard so many different things about it. Brings bad luck, etc. etc. Cant say if I would actually draw and let one fly or not until I am put in that situation I guess if ever.
chances of a deer being albino one is 1/20000 i say let him live if you kill him its you remove that trait from the gene pool
Ty, It was pure white from the one side, never saw other side of him. I still can't believe it and hope my cams picked him up. Scoot
Be sure to share when ya pull that card! We had a piebald button buck one season....idiot neighbor got mad when he blew the chance at a big 10 and decided to shoot the next thing that walked by....yup you guessed it.
Ive never seen one...but i woulda shot for sure. Its perfectly legal here in Ohio. I hope you got some great pics on your trail cam!
Funny I have seen to piebald deer in nj this year. Must be because our deer population is so high it makes them a more common occurrence Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
The wife and I saw a white buck once, down in Kenosha county about 3 yrs ago... driving down one of the back roads and watched him as he stepped out into a soybean field. The first thing I noticed was how well he stood out..
