Last year they found a Golden Eagle just outside of Sadorus in a field. My wife and I have taken a couple animals we have found to the U of I. It's really nice to have that so close to us.
Broken wing. They will repair the bone and once it is healed the owl will be sent to a raptor house for making its muscles stronger again for flying. Once healed released where it was injured. As someone else mentioned the University of Illinois is remarkable at what they can do with rehab. They said the owl I brought in was about the 10th this year.
There is a Raptor rescue in central IL. If I had to guess once they get the wing fixed they will send the owl to them until it is ready to be released. They do really good work.
Awesome! That is a really great story! I love having owls in the area, I never need to look at my watch, every evening at 6p when I'm in the stand they start going off lol.
way to go man. thanks for the compassion. I do a lot of upland hunting, and every year I make sure I have the following on my trips out. 1. an extra kennel 2. extra lead/collar 3. extra food (treats)/water because inevitably a hunting dog will get loose. has happened every year.
