Going with my son on Sat morning to buy his first real bow. Bowtech Razor Edge. As long as they have one in stock. Cant' wait for him to get hooked up, shooting and ready for the fall. Eventually we'll get him addicted & become a member here. Might even take him to the GTG in June.

i've got my oldest throwin darts at 30yds and he does surprisingly well... i let him try at 40 and it was just too much, 25-30yds is about the practical limit until you get into the 50lb limbs imho... right now he's got the 40lb limbs dialed back to about 35-36 lbs and he pulls it quite well...

edit - if you want to upgrade this bow spend the coin to get a decent site, the stock site kinda sucks... but is adequate for a while as he gets used to shootin it...

The good thing about the 09' edge, is that you no longer have to trade in for new limbs. It's fully adjustable from 29-60 pounds. He'll have to wait for a decent site as this will tap out both of us for funds. But we'll have enough for the bow and some arrows. I hope he gets into it, then we'll talk about upgrades. I'd love for him to be ready for the fall opener. Then he'll see what it's like to get close to a deer. He's 14 and just getting into the hunting thing hard core.

When we went to shoot it for the first time last yr, he's standing about 15yds away from the target just blind shooting to get a feel for the bow. When he pulls the trigger, he says, " Dad what just happened?" I replied you just shot the bow. So my son says, "but I'd didn't see the arrow go up and down like the boyscout bow's". I just started laughing, I told now you know what its like to shoot a real bow.

definitely a nice addition for the 09 edge on the limbs... one thing i've noticed also is the string is REALLY cheap... my boy needs to get a new string on his already and he doesn't really shoot terribly much...

Seven, that's a bummer. You'd think if they put that much effort into the design, they would've chose a string of good quality. Maybe I'm mistaken, but they make their own strings.

Hank, give me a call. I have a lot of good stuff here that I can sell or give depending on what it is. That is if you can live with G5 stuff in your house. I have a G5 Optix ME sight and a ExpertII rest that I will sell, they are black, but for the price?????
