Hello, there. The last time I nocked an arrow was in Cub Scouts, 55 years ago. My brother-in-law has taken a whitetail on his own land every year for the past 35 years. I have hunted with a rifle, and he has said that when I get a bow, let him know. So I bought a bow and he wants me to hunt with him in MN this fall. He has 15 stands set up on his land. I took a group lesson at Performance Archery last week. I thought I had my bow set up where it was comfortable for me, but they changed my draw length to 3" longer. I want to go to Balboa Park for some practice every week, and maybe take a private lesson. My Bear Apprentice 2 is only 27 inches ATA, so it looks like a toy next to everything else at the range. My goals are very modest: have fun and take a whitetail. San Diego Dad
Welcome to the site Where in MN is your b-i-l taking you hunting? 3" is a huge difference in draw length! What is it set at now? Keep practicing and asking questions, there are a lot of folks on here that know what they're talking about.
Welcome to the site and to bowhunting! It looks like your goals are right on! Have fun, and good luck this year!
Welcome! First off, are you a chargers fan? That said, if you are not, stick around. You'll learn a ton. These are good people on here and they'll answer the most trivial and newbie of questions. As far as your draw weight, do you know where you're at and where it was? We got a new guy at work started on shooting and the first thing we noticed was that his draw length was WAY too short. Again, just ask. Pictures always help if you have the capabilities.
I was going to say where do you hunt around San Diego?.... Thats super cool that there's a bowhunter in San Diego! You should definately practice frequently and have fun doing it!
