We have pictures of an 8 two years ago. We only have one picture of him from then and we have never seen this deer in person in two years. We have been getting consistent pictures of this 8 from this year. Do you think its the same deer? If so how old do you think he was when he was younger and that will tell us how old he is now. Its really hard to tell so i need some opinions. Thanks.

Same genes I'd say worst case...doubt same deer. (I hope someday that BEAST from a year or two ago reappears for you guys, I've never seen another buck I'd love to hunt more than that one...!)

Thank you for your opinion, We have Never seen that deer again and never got any pictures. We never heard of anyone shooting him or anyone finding him so it would be cool to get some more pictures of him.

I would agree. The new buck looks to be the same age as the one in the first pic.

The racks are very similar but the body size is the same.

I disagree...I'm going for same deer. Body build looks altered enough to me for him to now be 4+ years old and 2.5 at the time of the 2011 pic. The current pic shows a deer that is obviously older than 2.5 and "worn" and a 4+ year old deer is still a young'in which explains the misidentification in the prior posts.

It is a trick from one old pic that is so so.

I`m thinkin different deer same genetics. We`ve got a spot where we have 3 bucks of different size in 2 different years whit the same genetics, heavy mainframe 8`s, if we didn't get 2 on the video camera at once we may not have know

I think it could very well be the same. Ratios in different tine lengths side to side are there. There's no way with the provided photos that an accurate body comparison can be made. Depending on how a deer is standing, it's body can look very different.

These were my exact same thoughts. This deer definitely looks like it could be the same deer, especially because of the body. It just looks to me to be a 2.5 growing into a 4.5. I could be completely wrong, but it just appears this way to me.

I'd say it's the same deer also! Good luck with him this season!

I disagree. I think this could very well be the same buck. The mass on the second daytime picture from this year looks like the mass of a 4 yr old compared to the small mass of the buck from a couple years ago. Great buck! Good luck!
