The past 2 seasons I've had a few run ins with a young buck that I have been calling Ug. As a 1.5 year old this buck was a weird looking 5 pointer that seemed to pay me a visit on every November hunt. I had to of let this guy walk 7-8 times. Last year I was able to get some trail cam pics of him, and also picked up his right side shed this February. I had him during the 2nd gun season at 30 yards, but opted to let him walk again. Today, I think I may of got my first picture of him as a 3.5 year old, but I'm not real positive. The first picture is one of the trail cam pics from last season, while the second is the picture snapped this morning. 2010 Picture of Ug 2011 Ug as a 3.5 year old????? What do you guys say? Same buck, just a year older, or different?
Never can tell because the uniqueness of the 2010 rack could have grown out to be more symmetrical this year, but I too am leaning towards these being different bucks.
Hmmm I didn't think it was that obvious. The right side of the rack looks to be nearly identical to Ug last year, but just slightly larger, as well as the short brows both years. However, the left side appears to be the same, or even shorter tined. I'm seeing both ways of it right now. Doesn't really matter either way to me, heck if they are different then it means that there is just another new buck that showed up in the area.
Ok guys, I think I agree with you now. While flipping through all my buck pictures from last season, I ran across this buck. I had forgotten about him since he just showed up once on my camera during the rut. He looks like he may be a better match (minus the curved right G-2) for the picture I got Sunday. Both have a similar crab claw on the right, both have short stubby tines on the left. 2010 and again picture from Sunday What do you say on this one? A better match? Again, doesn't matter to me either way, I just find it interesting to see what the bucks on our farm are doing from one year to another.
I believe the other one's rack is closer but the second one have all the same markings on the face and throat as the second one. You can never tell though. I know people who've had cameras everywhere and see two dozen different bucks and then kill one they have never seen before.
