What do you guys use for a safety line while you are climbing up a tree with a climber?

When I use a climber, I use a Safety Harness and slide it up as I climb.

Dont...I repeat...DONT...pay $30-$70 for a pre-packaged "Safety Line" in the store or online. All these climbing safety lines are is a main line & a prusik knot / bachmann hitch in which you attach your already present hardness to. The knot is simple to tie, and will arrest your decent should you fall while climbing into/out of your stand. I almost paid for one when I realized you could make your own (and no buying one doesn't make it better than homemade, it is still just 2 ropes and a knot). As follows:
    1) Purchase a main line (rope) rated to handle your weight at a minimum. Preferably a good braided rope.
    2) purchase a smaller diameter secondary rope which is also rated to handle a minimum of your body weight. If the secondary line is of equal or greater diameter as your main line, the knot will not work and you may plummet to your death/disfigurement
    3) purchase a carabiner which can support a minimum of your body weight if you plan to use the Bachmann Hitch system.
    4) Tie either the prusik knot or bachmann hitch, using your secondary line, to your main line. See Google for instructions on this.
    5) The first time you climb your tree, tie the main line to the truck of the tree, or to the ladder of your ladder stand, above the level of your stands seat. Tying it near where your tree strap for your safety harness is located will work. This first ascent will be without fall protection so use caution.
    6) Now you should have a safety line dangling all the way to the ground with rope left to spare. Hook your safety harness into the safety line knot while descending. If done correctly the knot will stop your fall should you have an OOOPS.
    7) Once on the ground, tie the main line to the trunk of the tree at the base so you can now have fall protection while climbing up into your stand. You should now have a length of rope from base of trunk, to above your stand height, tied at both ends. Simply hook your harness into the knot and slide it up while climbing. Do the same and slide it back down with you as you exit your stand.
