I'm pretty new to archery, and I was just wondering, people are always saying to climb your treestands ladder with a safety harness on, well, how exactly do you do that? I understand hooking it up when you're at the top, but while going up doesn't make sense.

I tie a safety line, (rope), to the tree above my stand. I tie a prussic knot to that and connect my fall restraint strap to the prussic knot. I stay connected to the safety line until I am in my stand and strapped off to my lanyard. I use a climbing belt anytime I don't have a safety line in a tree.
