That's the one I use now and it is nice, but I agree with that last statement 200%.

I also know a few guys that have fell and are paralyzed. I found a real good friend after he fell and was there when they life flighted him out.

Climbing trees is nothing to take lightly, even if you are used to climbing and working in the air like I am.

    I won't hunt without a harness anymore.

Sorry to hear about your buddies. I'm stuck on the couch for a bit now as I got in a hurry and decided to pull a stand on my last hunt in January. Took my harness and bow to the truck since I didn't have my linemans rope. Pulled the stand and when I unhooked the top strap for my sticks they shifted and down I went. About 15 feet later I knew I had broken something in my right ankle so I walked to the truck and about passed out. Turns out I broke the top of my heel bone and sprained my ankle pretty good. Five seconds of being careless could have cost me my life. Whatever you choose, use it.

Honestly, I don't even know I'm wearing mine, usually.

I used to never wear a harness, and, I generally hunt very high off of the ground, so, this was stupid.

I have the older model Hunters Safety System. Works great for me. The tether is a bit short, so I made an extension.

Most people put the loops too tight. The leg straps should be lose, not tight. I wear the bottom straps outside of my pants, and, the top portion goes under my top layer, outside of the warmer hunting months, where the harness is worn outside of my top layer, as well.

    So comfort issues, just confidence.

I've never adjusted the tops on my Muddy either, I just get excited about the idea of not having a waistband.

Take it from someone thats been in intensive care over a tree stand fall and a safety belt failure, both at the same time. Do not use a belt that cuts you in half at the waist, and the dont think it wont happen to me crowd it does
I like the vest type with the leg supports, and hook it above me head so i dont fall past the stand and i can just get right back on the stand and not stuggle below it.

most falls are when moving from the steps to the stand and this is no place to get cheap with the last steps.and lash the bottom of the stand so it doesn't swing out away from you when you step on or off.

coming home alive is a plus and with a deer priceless..

Great advice from all!!! Thanks. Looks like I will be purchasing the Tree Spider after reading the responses. Its about time someone designed a harness with comfort and ease of use in mind!!

I don't get it though, Rick.

Don't have to,. Everyone has different tastes. I can't figure why people don't like the muddy. But ya know, Reno isn't Janet's maiden name. Everybody's different!

Isn't the Muddy harness like the Loggy Bayou harness? Still wearing my LB harness, very comfortable and easy to use. May check out the Tree Spider though.

Even if I go to the Spider I will most likely keep my Muddy. Having 2 harnesses isn't a bad thing.

I use an HSS TreesStalker and love it. I don't even realize I have it on. Just add an extra piece of loop to the strap incase you have to turn and face the tree while shooting as I have learned

I have a Fall Guy full harness/vest. I like it as it's incorporated into a vest that I just slip on, buckle up front, and loop my leg restraints around as well. I'm not a huge fan of the leg buckles, but the vest is comfortable, secure, and when used in conjunction with HSS Lifelines on all of my lock-ons, I never feel unsafe.
