So I was looking for opinions on how everyone layers with a harness. I usually dress for the average temp it will be when I'm out there and either freeze or roast. Last season was very warm late in the season and roasted way more than I would care for and it looks like that might be the case again this year. So I it possible to layer over the harness or is roasting the only option.
I would put the harness on outside the layer closest to your skin and just run the line out the neck hole rather than through the hole in the back of the jacket.
I always have worn my harness under my outer, layering layers, on top of my base layers. Its give you the flexibility of remove layers as needed. I just never liked having the harness and its buckles exposed for me to clank something on. Also, for me, my harness leg straps always wore out the crotch of my pants. I don't want that happening with $250+ Sitka pants!
Ok thanks guys I was under the impression that the harness would be less effective if it was ran through the neck hole thought it might strangle me if I fell
I wear mine over my lower base layer and on top just under my jacket. I use the harness slot in my jacket.
