A friend of mine that works at a ****'s sporting goods in Schaumburg illinois told me about a friend of his that died a couple of weeks ago. His friend went out to put up a new stand and his hunting partner went in his stand and waited for him to get back. Just before dark he started to get worried and went to find him and saw the seat hanging from the tree. Looked around the other side of it and found his friend lying on the ground with a broken back and neck. I know that we have all done it at some point and time where we just hurry up to get our stand in before the deer start moving around us. But it really hit home to me knowing that no deer is worth leaving my family behind. Please strap in when ever you are even just hanging your stand... There are way to many other things against us while we are out there like the poor guy from PA. had happen to him. My heart and wishes really go out to those families and all I hope is that they never forget that they died doing one of the things they loved so much.
My girlfriend's father has hunted his entire life, killed alot of nice deer, always been successful, never had any accidents, and never worn a harness. I've been on him for years about getting a harness. I finally just ordered one FOR him off of Cabelas.com last night. It's on back-order but he'll be getting it as soon as it comes in.
