    Not sure how many people use safe lines, but I liked the idea of being connected from the time I leave the ground to the time I am back on the ground. This way I am always going to make it home to my family. My question in how early are people putting them out and how do they last in the weather conditions? Thanks in advance

    How far in advance do you put them up before season?

    I use them in every tree. I'm putting them out this time of year.

    HSS says not to leave them out year round. I usually hang stands in the spring/summer and put them up then leaving until hunting season is over. I've had no issues with mine being out all summer.

    I have life lines for all of my hang on set ups and am hoping to put them on all of my ladder stands as well.

    Yes lifelines are essential and something everyone should be using if hunting off the ground. Usually put mine out in August and at the same time inspect the straps on my stands. I adjust the straps, replace if necessary and hang the life line. Then around mid January I retrieve them and inspect them to make sure they are still serviceable. Does that help?

    I use them on all stands. Back in the day befor all of this safety stuff I fell coming out of the tree. I was lucky and was not too badly hurt. Others have not been as fortunate. They are definitely worth the cost. I try to take them down every year , but when I have not they don't have any obvious wear. Probably best to follow manufacturer's directions.

    I make my own and leave them up year round for hog hunts during the off season.

    I'd like to replace them with a stainless steel cable versions if one exist.

    Since the lifelines came out, I've been using them on every stand I have. I've had them out all winter before, but wouldn't recommend it, if you are looking to get maximum lifespan out of your ropes. The new rubber cover (cow bells) do seem to attract squirrels and chipmunks, but that doesn't effect the integrity of your lifeline. I'm in the Northeast and generally set up my stands in August in preparation for October.

    I take all my treestands and lifelines down in December. I put them all back about August 1. I use to put them all back around July 4th to hunt in September. But with work (family business) I'm lucky to hunt by October 15th. Last year my 1st day was October 23.

    I have been using them for nearly 8 years now. Way before they became popular. When I get a new one, I let it soak in scent-free detergent and water for 30 mins. I rinse it, unwind it, spray with a scent eliminating spray and let it lay outside for a couple of days. Scent is completely gone! After that, I hang them up the next time I go to the woods. Sometimes I hang them a few months before hunting season or the day I hang a new set. KEEP IN MIND, the reflective ones can be seen by anyone with a flashlight in low light. I like the non-reflective ones best for concealment. HSS is my preferred brand by far!

    In my stationary setups I put them in around this time of year with my stands. For my mobile setup I use a climbing rope with 2 carabiners and a prusik knot to adjust length of rope. :tu;
