safe and effective way to clear new plot of weeds and sapplings

    what could i use to kill out weeds and small tree saplings that are ankle high... some said crossbow.. or round up.. this is an area thats about 2 acres.. never been touched before and im starting to hinge cut around it to create more cover and opening it up a little more.. nore if i could just spray it already and try to rid of the small trees through out.. would a simple runt though by the disc help?

    Round is will kill everything there, but could be a bit spendy. If you have a Farm store nearby, they should have some form of Glyphosphate that will act the same. Get the highest concentration for the best control (ie, 45% Glyphosphate). The higher the percentage, the more working ingredient there is.

    If you mix it a bit stronger it will kill out the small trees also.

    if I were to do this, would it be safe to plant seeds in the spring? Would the chemecal still be there or wash away by then?

    I usually spray about 2 weeks before discing and then planting right away.

    Wait to spray until whatever you want to kill is green and growing. It will take the Round up in through it's leaves. After it has turned brown disc and then plant. You can plant imideately after spraying round up. It has no effect on seeds only growing plants.

    If you have access to a bush hog, mowing it then waiting for the tender new growth to come back in; then spraying really puts the icing on the cake to what john said.
