It may or may not work for you but on properties that I hunt that ohers have permission on as well I usually use screw in tree steps, remove the bottom 3 steps or so and it atleast makes it impossible to climb without putting some effort in to it...I've never once thought somebody hunted my stand after doing this..also sends the message"Hey I dont want you climbing in my stand" ....
Striker, Idk about PA laws, but in Iowa if a guy is running his dog, or ATV or disturbing your hunt, you can call the dnr and they will come talk to the guy and basically tell him to knock it off or there will be charges pressed. Not sure what charges or how much of a fan or anything, Just sayin its an option in iowa might look into it in PA
I was thinking the same exact same thing....In my 45 years on the planet, I've only learned a couple of things. One of them is that most things in the world can be solved with communication. Maybe this guy thinks you're the trespasser(s) and he's removing your ability to hunt. I'd go back, bring him his orange vest, let him know that he was in your stand, ask for your stuff back, and let him know what days you'll be hunting there. Do it in a friendly manner, then on the days you're going to hunt there, I'd stop by the house and hang a little sign on his door if it's a morning hunt (I'm in the Woods Hunting)..If in the evening, stop by say "Hi". You never know, he might not be a jerk. And, if he is a jerk, at least he knows that he's not going to steal from you and get away with it.
I agree with every one else talk to the land owner and if he's not legally to be there it's time for the law. Had the same problem here not so long ago and all three guys are facing 2600 dollers in fine per charge right now so stand your ground!!!
Exactly what I was thinking. Its one thing to also have permission to be there but to intentionally disrupt your hunt and mess with your equipment is against the law.
