    Hey, Guy's,

I've been up north (WI) hunting since Thursday night. The weather has been perfect. It has finally cooled off, kind of drastically. It has gotten down to 21* in the mornings and up to 45* in the evenings. I've only seen a couple of turkeys in the distance from stand. Although I have 8 stands to hunt, I've only been on stand twice because I'm also hunting for land.

This is the first time in the last 15 years that I won't be hunting Ill. I did lose a great spot down there this year but I still had two other spots that I could hunt. This year, I finally decided that I'd had enough of the driving, expensive out of state liscenses and all the other hassels that came with it and started looking for a place of my own.

To own my own land has been a life long dream for me. I am also lucky in that my GF shares the same dream. I've been researching properties for several years now but this is the first year where we actually go out and walk them. I seems weird to be out walking through the woods, checking rubs and scrapes without a bow in my hand! Hence the sacrifice.

To be honest, this property search is very similar to hunting for a big buck!! There are a lot of highs and lows along with lots of anticipation. Although it is frustrating to me to not be able to hunt as much as I'd like, in the long run it might just be the best hunt of my life. We shall see.

BTW, we are in negotiation with a guy on his property. Yesterday, we walked it for the second time in the last couple of weeks. We will see how it works out.

    Wish us luck!

Good luck on the land. Why not look at pieces of property in the off season and not cut into your hunting time?

That is awesome Greg, good luck in your search. Nothing like having a piece of land to call your own, hope to see some pics of your new property in the future, when you decide on one. Good luck!

Good luck Greg. I hope to do the same thing some day. Having your own land in a state like WI will be a great thing. I look forward to hearing how it progresses for you.

Good luck with the purchase Greg. I know you have been planning this for quite a while now. Sacrifice or not, I will still be looking for that BBD thread from you by the end of Nov.

Nothing like owning your own land, and especially if you are able to live on it. I have 41 acres where I live, and although its not big buck ville by any means...its awesome to be able to walk out the door and hunt. Yesterday evening I wasn't planning to go - and my plans changed last minute. 15 mins later, I was up a tree at 5pm. 10 mins after dark, I was home - changed and eating supper, and getting ready to watch some football. Alot to say for that.

Good luck in your search Greg, I'm sure you'll pick a great spot!

Good luck Greg. Having land that nobody can take from you and that you can truly call your own is a wonderful feeling.

Good luck in your search. What part of northern Wis are you looking at? How many acres? You still have the rut! You have a knack for whacking big ones and I'm sure you'll get on a few during the rut. I understand you wanting a place to call your own. I know you will enjoy playing with the land as much as hunting it. I'll be watching for northern Wis frosty beard pics of gay poses with monster bucks :)
