It was announced today that ****'s Sporting Goods will no longer sell assault-type rifles. They will also stop selling high capacity mags as well.
Love to hear actually what firearms that means....as that is not a term describing any firearm in the industry....unless they are just not selling any and all rifles any longer.
I have to say I am not at all surprised. I worked for ****'s in College. The CEO is the former CEO of Target, and is very anti-gun/hunting. Their selection of hunting gear has went downhill every year since he took over.
Meh...not impressed. I thought somehow this was a thread about my adventure stopping at a neighbors junk filled yard the other day asking if they were interested in selling a couple of the 25 of the old junk tractors and combines sitting around.
I recall the PA outdoors show being canceled in 2013 due to the event company prohibiting AR style guns. Many others backed out due to this. It will be interesting in some ways to hear how others feel about this. Personally, I do not care what DSG's cares to sell and not sell. It is likely not the wrong business decision for them. The risk to their business is fairly high and profit from AR guns likely low in comparison.
Guns are not high margin items, so it's really not a bold move, just a PR stunt. Has anyone here bought a gun at their before?
It's a term that's used daily on the news. Probably meaning any gun that fits the AR15/AK47 description would be my guess.
****'s will no longer sell guns to anyone under the age of 21 either. Send eighteen year olds overseas with automatic weapons to fight for our country but, upon their return they can no longer buy a .22 long rifle...
I was right. They did this in 2012 and then backed down. I imagine they will do the same this time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Yes, but it has been tanking for quite some time. Take a look at their five year or better yet there last year and a half. I would not want it long term in my portfolio. Also, before you start cancelling magazines, Field and Stream Magazine and the Field and Stream store are not the same thing. The magazine does not own the rights to the name.
Not just machine guns but also tanks, fighter jets, armed drones and other multi-million dollar equipment. Of course those are all cases of being trained and somewhat supervised. Still your point is a good one.
No I haven't bought any guns from them but I have certainly spent some money in ****s and F&S. I'm done with them.
It’s one thing not to sell them but if you want to ban them etc. I’m done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'd give my life to protect kids from an active threat but I'm sorry, I'm not going to consider a hypothetical kids life equal payment for any God given and constitutionally guaranteed right being removed forever. I've had a lot of family die in the military to insure my rights were defended and left intact...I'm not willing to surrender those rights or my family members sacrifice on a hypothetical "maybe it'll help" stopgap. Their desperate measure isn't a solution, it's a guarantee to disarmed governmental control and communism. They can ban whatever they want, I'm tired of arguing the mothers over it, if I want a new gun I'll get the equipment and make the sob from scratch. If I wanted to commit a huge violent crime...it sure as hell wouldn't be with a wimpy firearm anyway. The way I see it is that I'm facing the same exact threats of gun violence and nutso whackos killing people as everyone else and I'm willing to accept the threats vs losing a gun ownership right. If they are not willing to live with that then they can move to a country that has gun bans.
Their choice, but mixing politics with business is a pretty bad idea. Whether you buy guns there or not, if your a second amendment fan and feel ****'s is using a tragedy for political gain, your likely not to spend any of your dollars there. That's the boat I fit into. I have dozens of alternatives to ****s's and I'll be spending my money with them instead.
