Being the sports nut you are, I would think you would know the story better before making that comment. It had nothing to do with FedEx. The guy collecting the sample drove past 19 different FedEx stores and drove home. He then sent the sample out 44 hours later. Why did he take it home and not send it immediately, like he is required to do? I'm not saying he's innocent, but that is more than just a minor "technicality." Damn, I sound like an Ohio State homer now. Or is that an SEC homer?
Wisconsin homers are the worst. Have you heard they will even buy stock in a team? I'm being serious. It actually happened.
Or maybe Fedex dude has some weird fatal attraction/fettish for Braun. He may have pissed in the sample himself while jacked up on roids!! Ah hah! Test that dude.
Oh great the man who failed to ship the urine sample on time is from our neighboring city of Pleasant Prairie, Wi.
The procedure is put in place to keep the chance of contamination down. Also to help keep someone from tampering with it. You may not like a system such as this but imagine with that kind of talent and money involved what could happen if samples were allowed to float around for extended periods of time. I have no idea if he's "guilty" but the procedures are there for a reason. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
There were several questionable issues regarding the test. He took a test 3 weeks later and it was negative. The testosterone levels were double the highest ever recorded by MLB....that sounds a little extreme. Maybe he was eating "Rocky Mountain Oysters" or something, but I doubt it. As for the use of steroids/PEDS, for MANY years MLB never had a "rule" against it. Therefore, I 'd NEVER in a million years blame a guy for using something that may help him recover from injuries in days rather than weeks, and help him get an extra 15-20ft on that long fly out that might make it a Home Run, and might help him have enough strength to whip that 38oz. bat on an outside pitch and flip that ball in the the shallow part of the opposite field when he got a little too far out in front of a change-up. Most of those guys weren't using ANABOLIC steroids like you see body-builders, and football players were frequently accused of or caught using. Most of those guys were using a "supplemental" type steroid. If you ever sprained a knee or ankle, or had an injury that you were put on steroids for, then you can appreciate the benefit of low dosed steroids in aiding in healing processes. Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Sammy Sosa, and Rafael Palmeiro ALL belong in the Hall of Fame, as they ALL contributed greatly to the game. Canseco could have been one of the best ever had he not gotten hurt, the first 40HR-40SB player ever, and had it not been for a stupid pitching experiment in a game that was completely out of control, he may have continued on to hit 500 plus HR's, and bat somewhere close to .300 while doing it. If I could take a "supplement" that would make me 20% more valuable in my job which might be the equivalent of 50% more pay, an it would actually help my muscles heal better after strains, help my ligaments or tendons heal better after mild strains/tears, and it would make me good enough to play MLB rather than be a "good Minor Leaguer," and there were NO RULES against it, you can bet your every last penny I'd be all over that, and any guy who wouldn't is a fool, in the overall realm. These guys aren't STUPID, they knew what they were taking, and knew there were some calculated risks. For a guy to fail a drug test today, now that there are rules against it... Manny Ramirez for instance, IS inexcusable though. But I think Braun's case may have had a little tampering in it.
On a serious note...all the stuff Dan posted is the reason I am glad he won the appeal. I think most pro athletes cheat in some manner, too much money and competition not to, but there is no way you can peg this guy when the collector did all that crap. Imagine if you failed a piss test at work and found out your boss took the sample home for a few days... Now i will say this, if he has a slow start, or a bad first half he will be hammered with accusations.
Touche. I normally don't follow sports more than what the score is. But, because its my home state and I "think" Braun is a pretty stand up dude, I paid a little more attention to this.
Polls are funny. Yes, Braun seemed very sincere. Hmmm...where have we seen this before? I could go on, but I won't.
I wou,ld take the suspension before letting it get out that Herpes cream made me test high for testosterone
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sport...-test-sample/2012/02/28/gIQAXOipgR_story.html Seems more plausible than Brauns story. Also heard a chemist on Mike and Mike this morning. Says it's absolutely impossible for testosterone to magically appear in the sample no matter how long it sat. If anything if there were any levels in it, they would go down and not up. But either way impossible it's not magic. Tamper resistant labels were in tact the same way they were when Braun was present when they were sealed and he signed off on it. Hmmmmmm,. Tough to argue against science.
